Lotus Vamza Bamboo Pen. Nikko Ebonite.

I looked at their site, but did not see where I could choose the color of the ebonite. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Some models have color options like the following page:

if you are interested in a particular model, I suggest you drop an email to them asking for color options, lead times, nib options etc.

I feel a lot of bamboo-shaped pens are a bit too in-your-face, so I love the subtlety of this one. Nice decision on your part to add the clip, and masterfully executed!

Are the Lotus logos engraved directly onto the ebonite on the finials?

On my pen, I think there is a black insert on which the logo is engraved.

Thanks, Hari. Your review convinced me to get one -- I just placed an order (no inserts). :D

I went with the same Nikko ebonite + clip, minus the finial logos. Not exactly the adventurous type. ;)

It'll be interesting to see what kind of stuff they will produce in addition to their current line-up.

Yeah, I am curious too, their latest seems to be a dolce vita-esque model

Yes, I saw that too. Personally, I would like to see more ebonite pens. It would be cool if they could get their hands on some of the Nikko marble ebonite used on the Eboya pens -- I wonder if they are exclusive to Eboya.

Very nice pen, and I like the way the clip has been added. Thanks for this review.

They have some solid green rods now and a black purple yellow ripple rod, I have been asking for the rippled rods, lets see.

Hari-

After reading your review..you {metaphorically} twisted my arm and I willingly caved in.

Thanks..I needed that.

Downstream to Yang-chou, late spring a haze of blossoms,

Excellent review of a beautiful pen. I'm afraid I do have some bad news for you, though. I'm going to have to send you the bill for my Lotus Shikhar i ordered in the same material because of your glowing review. Can't wait for it to arrive!

Great! Freddy I think you will be happy with their work.

Best

Hari-

Have been usin' the Vamza.

The workmanship is flawless and the execution of the Nikko ebonite is outstanding.

I swapped out the original nib for a Au cursive italic {750/1000}.

Contemplating a vermeil snake..trident..clip.

Folks a real bargain..buy with confidence. Transit time from Mumbai to New York City four days.

Thats really nice to hear. Would love to see some pictures of your example. A snake would look superb on it.

Hari thanks for the review. This is the pen I have been waiting years for and probably would have never seen it if it wasn’t for you. I just ordered it with a silver clip and threaded bock to house a titanium nib.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
