Another New Pelikan.....

I think the M400/400 nibs may have issues for the fact that they are big,

It may make capping the pen tough.

EDIT: Don't you think Pelikan just has a stash of old machinery?

... Waiting to be used to make such faithful reproductions?

I think it's a M200 with a round cap top and piston knob. All 4xx nibs should be fine.

The M120 and M400/200 nibs are identical size so you would have no problems.

It is indeed a very nice pen. I love this blue colour. But I won't buy it for it's too expensive. It's the size of an M200 with a steel nib, so I won't pay two times the price of an M200.

Received my M120 this morning (only ordered it yesterday afternoon from Niche Pens). Writes beautifully, F nib, and the colour really is striking. Here in the UK the difference in price is not so great, really about a 50% increase over the M200. Great pen.

What a gorgeous and lively blue. I would love to see a size comparison with an m400 and m600 if you get a chance!

Just a couple of quick snaps that you asked for.

Thank you very much, Good Captain, that's really helpful. I'm glad to see it is a bit bigger than I thought. I'm assuming that's an M600 next to it?

Yes it is. Here are some pics I took when I got the new M120 Green/Black, compared with some other pens.

These two are the M120 measured.

The next two are an M140.

An M400.

And finally some comparisons.

Hope these help too!

I looks like the diameter is the same like the M200/M400. Are the caps interchangeable?

Well yes they are but they look pretty strange.

The thread is the same but I cannot say for sure whether there is enough room above the nib tip and the inside top of the 200 cap. I certainly don't want to try and screw it all the way on.

That's a really elegant pen, simple lines, no excess decoration, and the ink window adds some interest and functionality. The blue is much brighter than in the previous pictures. I guess I'll wait and see.

Have no fear, the distance from the thread to the tip of the nib is identical. They are completely compatible.

It would be interesting to see a comparison with the other blue pens (M405/M605/M805). I think this has a different colour. But it's hard to tell from a photo.

The photo of the M120 earlier in this thread, with the dot grid paper and writing in Topaz is almost the exact colour of the pen. The one of it with the green strip M600 is a warmer blue which is purely a 'trick' of the light - both taken with the same phone. In this latter picture, the blue more resembles the blue in the stripe M405 I have, but without the characteristic specular appearance. I have the chance to photograph the two together at the moment. Sorry.

Didn't realize they had been released. Just ordered mine from Goulet.

Just got home, saw the Goulet email, went to the site...

EF is "out-of-stock" blah blah blah...

no joy in Rattlesnake Junction :(

But since I've always said I would buy from US vendors if they were priced right, I decided to check Fountain Pen Hospital also. Same price, in stock, ordered and paid for. Joy again :P .......mmmmmm.......new pen..... :P

Just for interest sake, I put my 200 Demonstrator cap onto the 120 to visualise compatibility and the fit is perfect.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
