Kultur Colors, 62 Of Them

Recommended Posts

It's been a couple of years since I've found a Kultur color I didn't already have. So I figure I have almost all, if not all.

I don't include post production advertising or printing. And I didn't include the Eiffel Tower because I've only ever seen a ballpoint.

I did include the Croft, Harley, and 2000 pens because they were Waterman Kultur models.

So below are pictures of the 62 distinct colors. If you know of more feel free to comment. But I might just cover my eyes to avoid the knowledge.

Didn't know there were 6 Harleys from this version.

Ofcourse there are also the versions with the exterior embellished with motor parts.

AFAIK these, too, are based on the Kultur.

Woah, all of these are pretty. Some of them look like real beauties to me.

Remind me again why they discontinued this model? Wouldn't it be the perfect competitor to Lamy Safari?

There's the Horizon model. They use the same nib, but a different barrel and cap featuring a cylinder and pushrods. The Horizon comes in a fuel tank case.

The other I think is the Combustion. They use an Expert II nib and feature something like a front fork. The Combustion comes in a head light case.

Common sense makes me think the Combustion is the cylinder and pushrod model and Horizon would have the suspension and headlight, but I think I have it right that the names came confused from Waterman.

Anyway, neither model is a Kultur. The Kultur Harley is called the Freewheel.

Do you have the Y2K pen (2000 on the cap)?

Well, this was an education!

I only have my clear one, but it is the pen I have my company's color in, so I use it every day.

Here's a question: do these all have the same problem my Kultur does of drying out if not used at least once a day, preferably twice?

A definite Yes.

A definite Yes.

Do you think this has anything to do with the clip on the Kultur and on the Phileas? I don't think it is the nib, because an 18K nib from one of the other Watermans that fit right onto the Phileas dried up the same way.

Beautiful pens. For those who experience drying out, I accidentally found that a wetter ink, such as Sailor dark blue or purple, will keep the moist at least overnight.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
