Colorverse Inks

I've just learned of these inks and am seriously intrigued. Notice that they come in two bottle sets... Are the meant to be mixed or are they just two of the same? Do they clog like some shimmer inks do? Anyone have any experience with them?

Season 1 & 2 colours: the inks in the 65ml and 15ml bottles are the same. Most people are using the smaller of the two for swaps or for travel.

Season 3 colours: the 2 bottles contain different colours, either contrasting, complementary or shimmer.

I have three colours currently, from Season 2. They are all saturated, sheeny and well behaved. I think they’re all very good inks, from my limited experience. I really like Vortex Motion, an intriguing colour unlike any other ink I’ve tried. It changes from wet to dry quite significantly and is very paper-dependent.

I can’t comment on the behaviour of their shimmer inks as I don’t like shimmer inks generally and won’t use them.

Your nearest stockist would be HippoNoto in Hawaii. Colorverse is currently negotiating to set up other global resellers, according to their IG account.

I have tried Quasar from Season 2, and find it to be a well-behaved, luxurious dark blue.

For those in the US, Colorverse inks are now available from Vanness.

There are several reviews of some of these inks in the various blogs--just google Colorverse. The quality of the product and packaging is exemplary. I'm not interested in sparkly inks either, but you can just let those bits settle at the bottom of the bottle and draw out ink from the top with a syringe.

Colorverse inks are just now becoming available in the US.

I'm restraining myself because it's winter here and I don't care to buy ink in the winter and risk freezing. But when spring rolls around.... :bunny01:  :cloud9:

I have to say I am very excited for my Colorverse order to come in. From what I have seen and read they are going to be very impressive. Cant wait to read some of the reviews and post some myself. Cheers.

And hopefully, Vaness will bring them to the LA Pen show.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Curious shape to the bottle, I like it, dont get me wrong, but it could be that it works well when it comes to getting the last drop out of the bottle, will it tip to the side and remain stable?

For example, a lot of people dont realise that the Parker bottle is designed with flat sides and a wide neck so that the bottle can be laid on its side (perhaps edge is a better word) to get at the last quarter of the ink capacity

I think we worry too much. Let's deal with it when we get to the end of the bottle, if that ever happens. :)

I haven't finished a bottle of ink after finishing school, and unless I take part in #Emptyinkbottle2018, don't see that happening.

Last few fills can always be done with an eyedropper pen.

I'm waiting until they begin offering samples. My bottle collection is FULL! My sample collection is, frankly, full too, but I can justify trying a new line through samples.

If someone is sharing and sampling out, let me know and I'd be glad to trade. I'm thinning down.

**Edited to add trade offer**

Sounds like many of us are in the same boat. I have business in Little Rock in April and will likely make a field trip to Vanness like I did last year when i was in town. Lisa was very helpful and hospitable during my visit and I was able to get a bunch of paper and notebooks without having to order blind and on line. Added bonus for me is that I started using a double edged razor within the last several months and they carry some of those goodies too! :)

Re the colorverse... I'll be curious to learn if there are specific cleaning requirements and how well the color variations show in a Pelikan fine nib.

I ordered Vortex Motion and Space Laika from Vanness yesterday. My choices were based partly on what hadn't sold out yet, and partly on reviews by Leigh Reyes (http://www.leighreyes.com/?p=5442). Space Laika looks at first glance like a not-very-interesting brown, but it separates into purple and ochre.

Penchalet now stocks these.

Here is a quote from their web site:

Made from natural pigments and dyes of plant origin, the Colorverse inks are clean and safe. The smooth writing Colorverse inks allow you to feel the natural colors.

This is quite interesting. Most inks are based on analine (amonia) dyes. Herban, the french ink is based on vegetal dye (or at least it used to be), which was a significant difference, and generally less saturated colors. The best advise was also to not mix the two types of ink.

So I'm curious as the the chemisty of Colerverse ink. Is it really a vegetal dye base??

To add to the curiosity, the Penchalet description says "65ml + 15ml". Is this an indication they they can't do arithmetic, or do you get two bottles, or something else.

Hope to see these in L.A., maybe I'll know more.

Most are 2 bottle packs, as I understand it. I noticed Pen Chalet is stocking them. I am waiting to get in on a bottle of the new Lamy Pink before taking the plunge. But if I can get it from Pen Chalet or Vanness, I'll probably add some of that stuff too.

I really hate the fact I can't actually preorder and reserve things from retailers. I understand the reasons, but for something like the Lamy Pink, I get put on a notification list and I put myself on it for about 6 different retailers. I'm sure they'll all notify me around the same time, and I need to be diligent enough to open the email and respond while each has it in stock. That's kind of one of those things that annoys me about this hobby. Perspective: it's just ink, but stiil :)

And hopefully, they'll also eventually offer samples!

I contacted Vaness about this recently. They do plan to offer samples of Colorverse inks after they receive their second batch/shipment of ink.

@Ruaidhri This was an absolutely wonderful bit of writing, and I hope that you're able to maintain the style once all of the medications are out of your system.  Take care and recover quickly!

These comments make me sad as I sympathise with Ruaidhri, having great difficulties in being taken seriously. Or being taken at all (no off-colors jokes, please!) In spite of overwhelming odds,  Ruaidhri -now I know how to spell it- made a courageous decision and stuck to it. I was diagnosed with a similar growth in a place I will not reveal. Oh, well, if you insist it was Mount Sinai Hospital. But I firmly intend to walk in Ruaidhri's footsteps, if he will let me, on my next visit to Dublin.
