Ink Review of Levenger Forest Green.

Levenger markets a variety of high end items including leather briefcases, purses, etc., desk accessories, stationery items, pens and ink for the discerning affluent. While I am certainly not affluent, I do like several of their products. Levenger makes a number of different color inks, most of which have been reviewed by others. I purchased a box of standard international cartridges in Forest Green prior to Christmas and wanted to try the ink.

Levenger Forest Green is a very dark green, tending towards black. It does have cyan undertones (see Water Test), and does have a red sheen in heavy concentration (see ink drop), but the sheen isn't seen in writing, even when I used it with Tomoe River paper. The color is satisfying to the eye, but, sadly, the ink is not well behaved. It bleeds through on most papers, as well as shows through on most. It feathers badly on poor notebook paper, and even shows some feathering on better papers. I used my Delta Journal with wet fine nib for the review below. This pen works well with almost every ink I have, except for this ink. The ink does not flow well to the nib, causing the pen to drag and skip. I also used this ink in my Lamy Studio with 14K nib (another wet nib), and had the same issues.

Here is my hand written review.

I am sad to say that I was not impressed with this ink.

I am a big fan of Levenger Skies of Blue but I've always fussed with Cobalt. I wish Amethyst were water proof. However, I never expected Gemstone Green and Amethyst to be as fade resistant as they are. The Levenger inks are more fade resistant than you might expect.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Thanks for the information. I will have to give a few other colors a try. I wasn’t too impressed with Forest Green.

That is a bit too black for my taste. With a fine nib it would be very difficult to even detect the green!

I like the color but had the same experience with Claret - great color but worst bleeder ever. Anyone looking for a similar color to this (but far better behaved) should check out Chrissy and visvamitra's reviews of Diamine Dark Forest.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

@Ruaidhri This was an absolutely wonderful bit of writing, and I hope that you're able to maintain the style once all of the medications are out of your system.  Take care and recover quickly!

These comments make me sad as I sympathise with Ruaidhri, having great difficulties in being taken seriously. Or being taken at all (no off-colors jokes, please!) In spite of overwhelming odds,  Ruaidhri -now I know how to spell it- made a courageous decision and stuck to it. I was diagnosed with a similar growth in a place I will not reveal. Oh, well, if you insist it was Mount Sinai Hospital. But I firmly intend to walk in Ruaidhri's footsteps, if he will let me, on my next visit to Dublin.

Was that the end of the Laboratory? Somehow the exactitude created a fully destructive device, as always!
