I noticed this a few days ago, but I'm still skeptical. The Taobao store is still teasing medium nibs from over a year ago and not one single medium nib has ever been put up for sale. When these new models do go up for sale, it's probably safe to consider them as limited editions and grab what you can quickly because this pen in particular never seems to restock.

Good news! I was wrong. All the new colors as well as the original colors both with white and gold dots went up for sale on Shanghai Junlai's Taobao store!

 

I was finally able to grab one of the blue ones which I had missed out on in the first offering oh so long ago. Unfortunately, the medium nib option still isn't being offered, but this time I knew better than to wait for it.

If you want to have a medium nib in 626 you can try to get a spare Kaigelu 316 nib for a replacement. They are medium and the same size as 626's nib. I have one in mine. They sometimes pop up on eBay

Thanks for the tip! If this new batch still has those nibs that seem to bend too easily, I may swap in another.

Meanwhile, I'm still struggling with mine green 626 from the supposed third batch (white dot).

 

I recently tried again with the stock converter with a ball bearing. For a week I used the pen for short notes and addressing envelopes with no problems. Yesterday I tried to experiment how consistent the flow would be for a longer writing - unfortunately after one A5 page it went completely dry.

 

One good thing that the ball did is that now the flow is relatively easy to restart - I just shake the pen a bit, I hear the ball moving inside and the pen writes again.

 

I'm guessing, air bubbles?

Most chinese pens tend to run dry quickly. I read here that they're not engineered to keep up with the flow required to write in cursive or print - chinese is made of ideograms with short strokes, or something like that.

well having been using Chinese ( and other countries' ) fountain pen for decades I had no issue writing in multiple languages including cursive and Chinese / Japanese ... yes most East Asian ( aka Chinese and Japanese but also Korean and some Indian ) fountain pen are tuned to be leaning towards dry flow , or rather they are usually tuned to had constrained flow so that ink do not creep at end of stroke , which are many in writing the East Asian languages.

 

Cursive is more a series of continuous lines which to me also do not require a wet flow but a consistent continuous flow , which in some Chinese and also Japanese fountain pens can give issue if that line became drawn out or if executed in quick fashion

 

That stated, many Chinese and Japanese fountain pen I had had no issue with cursive even with quick writing but I can see if one need to do say class notes when one need to keep this quick ( and usually hasty ) cursive going for a fairly long period, one can easily run the pen dry .. the ink flow is not tended for that ... the solution usually is tuning the feed , not the converter , if there is flow issue with converter it will be there whether you write cursive or not.

 

If its the converter , then the best approach is not switching out the converter, but dissemble the converter and give it full clean up , ball bearing / spring of course give a bit of help breaking up the surface tension but I usually find them unnecessary as the motion in writing induce already continuous shaking of the ink inside the converter. My past experience is many of the time these flow issue had to do with the ink instead, many of todays ink are super saturated and thus they tend to give problem with that surface tension but also they tend to not flow as freely as say more traditional ink .. pretty much like same kind of problem with India Ink / Carbon ink. If I had issue with any pen writing I would check if the same apply when using say the typical ink like Parker Quink / J. Herbin .. if they flow alright then we had the ink to be blamed, and if even such norminal flow ink give issues, its time to start hacking the parts
