Would it be possible to restore a scratchy P51 demi nib? I feel like it's not aligned well as it wrote fine a long time ago. Thanks.

Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow

Just wanted to say thanks for a great gesture...skipped some pages of the thread, for some reason it's the first time I've seen this thread. Got a sheaffer imperial as9 myself that needs restoration and haven't found the time to look for supplies. Where would you recommend I get the o-rings for the barrel, if you happen to know?

Thank you for your kind words! If you live in the Us then Indypendance and Andersonspens are places I have ordered from in the past. If you live in Europe or in Asia (like me) then Pendragons in the UK is my favourite and I order from them most of the time. All the best

Restored two lovely 146s. The full silver had a stuck piston, misaligned feed, and baby’s bottom nib. The other one was leaking from the nib.

It seems the owner is happy with the results :)

What an important service you are providing. You are a very kind and generous gentleman. The photos of your restorations are an education in themselves. You teach us with your remarkable website and continue to do so with your descriptions of the restoration service. You truly exemplify the rewards of sharing and caring about others. Thank you, sir, for all you do.

This pen needed some deep cleaning - inside and outside. It was writing dry and would begin to choke after a few words. And the outside had some kind of shellac or glue stuck all over the cap.

I have a leaky Esterbrook J. It leeks from where the barrel meets the nib. Was wondering if you can fix this issue?

Hello, it seems like a simple enough problem. However, the US is the most expensive place to ship from to India - it will probably be cheaper to send the pen to a pro in the the US :(

In the spirit of full disclosure I just wanted to share with everyone that because of the encouragement I have been receiving from members, suggesting that I charge a fee for my services, I have introduced a PAY AS YOU WISH model. Its simple. My commitment to free services continues, but those that wish to make a contribution for my effort are free to do so as well. AFTER receiving the pen back, the patron may choose to pay nothing (no justification needed) or pay something (whatever they wish). Thats all. Also, I just want to thank the community for encouraging and supporting me in this hobby of pen restoration, by trusting me with their pens over the past two years. Ive learned so much thanks to you!

Restored an L139 for my friend - full disassembly, cleaning, revival of the cork seal, nib tuning to make it less wet (it was feathering on paper).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
