Now, to discover the perfect match of inks for January...

My contribution is ready (and possibly subconsciously influenced by HJB's New Year wishes, as the colours are certainly similar. I have gone with two inks by the same manufacturer that I find work well together.

I'm very impressed with the inks from L'Artisan Pastellier Callifolio range. They are very well-behaved, and have great tones. These two I really like, and I think they look excellent alongside each other.

Hope this isn't too picture heavy.

Very nice, LizB! Love that pair. I was pondering blue and grey, blue and pink / magenta, or green and brown. Sigh. Knowing the theme was supposed to make this easier!

Lovely combination! I'm generally not a fan of gray inks, but these two together are really gentle and subdued. Great choice!

My options for Perfect partners were very limited (don't worry more ink is on the way), so this was the best that I could come up with. After I found a small pink sample- but discovered I far prefered the subtle colouring to outragious pink and green, purple or shades of grey.

Hopefully before next weeks challange my ink supply will have doubled :)

Nice. Blue + Grey, Purple + Grey. Clearly I'll have to choose something other than grey! :)

@fionafish - you've actually got a month before our next combo. :) Time to breathe, or hem and haw - whichever is needed.

I love this match! Subdued yet harmonious, and theres a calming effect to it.

(I wish my Équinoxe 6 looked like that. Mine has non of the grey teal tone and looks very bright blue. I think LAP is notorious for their inconsistency between batches and bottles.)

I wouldn’t have thought of this combo myself, and it looks very nice!

You know you can have more than one combo!

I was thinking that just last night as I was sampling various inks side-by-side. I'm trying to keep the ink count down, though, because I don't use them quickly enough. But don't worry - I decided what to use last night. Now I just need to ink a couple of pens. :D

Looking forward to yours! My entry is ready and I just need some daylight to take photos!

Well, the green is much brighter in person (a lot like Caran d'Ache Delicate Green), but the blue in the photo is pretty accurate... I wanted to use new inks, so I gave up on the pink & blue idea and went this way instead...

Some warm colors on a cold winter's day. [Apologies if the photos look a bit washed out —I took them in direct sunlight]

After spending the last ~20 weeks of 2017 telling myself I’d participate in the Weekly Ink Project (and never quite getting around to it), I’m determined to stay on top of the more manageable 2018 incarnation from the start :P

For those who can't read my handwriting, this is Kyo no Oto #07 Hisoku and (Sailor) Kobe Nagasawa #64 Sumiyoshi Yamate Jade Green.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
