2018 Monthly Ink Combo Community Project

Recommended Posts

After Amberlea's 2016 An Ink A Day project (here and here) and our 2017 Weekly Ink Project (here and those 52 threads in Co-Razy-Views subforum) which many of you have joined and enjoyed, we are ready for another community ink project for 2018!

Q: Why a monthly rhythm instead of a weekly one?

A: Many of you who participated in the 2017 weekly inky themes have found the weekly frequency not easy to handle, so the 2018 themes are going to be monthly. This will give us more time to decide on our choices and play with them.

Q: What do we do?

A: For each month, match up two (or more) inks according to the theme. Just like the past year, write, draw, sketch or doodle with your chosen inks, share pictures and scans of them on the corresponding thread in Co-Razy-Views subforum. (Each thread will be created at the beginning of each month.) You can also mail out your CRV reviews to your pen pals. Just have fun!

Q: What are these themes?

A: I have come up with a couple of the themes, and other FPN-ers, especially LizEF, have come up with lots of ideas. (Thank you all for these wonderful ideas!) We've had a vote on these themes, and I picked the 12 most popular ones and randomised them to each month (except the two Seasonal Combos themes which I have put in March and December). Here are the themes:

January: Perfect Match

Pick two or more inks that you think look great together.

February: Hangin' in the Shade

A combination of shading inks.

March: Seasonal Combo: Spring/Autumn

At the time of spring/autumn equinox, choose a combination of colours of spring or autumn.

April: Coord-ink-ation

Slightly different this month: match your ink to your pen. Of course you are welcome to use and match more than one pen.

May: Colours of Nature

Choose an ink combo depicting the nature: sea, sky, mountain, desert, snow, sunset, grass, flowers, etc.

June: Warm vs Cold

A combination of warm and cold colours.

July: My Favourites

Match two or more inks you really like.

August: Complementary Colours

A combination of complementary colours.

September: Inspired by You

Use inks you've seen other members use in the past months.

October: Similar Names

Choose two or more inks with similar names. Are they similar in colours as well?

November: Clash of the Colours

Use two inks that so do NOT look good together.

December: Seasonal Combo: Winter/Summer

Winter/Summer has come. Show us a combination of wintry/summery colours.

Come join us and have fun!

Very nice and the slower pace will hopefully allow me to keep up a little better...

Sure wish I could retire and devote my time to this sort of fun!

Yaaayyyy! I'm looking forward to this, and should be able to keep up much better than I did for the weekly.
Thank you, Lgsoltek!!!

You may have noticed there were some of us who could never decide on just the one ink, even for the short period of one week... :D

I think it's slightly more daunting than last year, unless I got it wrong last year.  During 2018 we have to use two inks :o

Two inks per *month*. Last year was one ink per *week* (or ~4 inks per month). So we've cut the ink-load in half for this year. :)

This is much more do-able, I think. My problem was actually getting the stuff scanned and uploaded. And as the year went on, I fell further and further behind due to vacations and other hectic stuff. And by the middle of the summer I had just kinda given up.

Even with two per, you still have a month to get things done.

LG, you are awesome.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).
