Ordered a Diplomat Aero in blue from Goulet. Never had a Diplomat before and the Aero looks cool. The blue model and free ink pushed me over the edge to try one out now then getting something else. If Karas had gotten the Vertex into production I would have ordered that instead but do to machine breakdowns it's going to be November for production to catch up enough to sell them. Oh well.

Kudos to your 'Adviser'. Do you pay him any fees?

He is such a kind-hearted person...That is why he has never taken any fee... :D

Just pulled the trigger on my first Souveran series Pelikan - a M405 White Tortoise B nib from The Writing Desk. This is my most expensive pen by a fair amount, but I had come into some funds unexpectedly and added to some other funds I knew I had in the pipeline. Decided to get it now rather than wait too much longer when it might not be available.

I'm waiting for a Faber-Castell Loom in gunmetal finish with a Fine nib. I hear the Faber-Castell nibs are pretty consistent and smooth.

New toy to play with. Pre 20's BCHR eyedropper Diamond Point Safety Clip with a warranted flexible medium, thanks to Peyton. Ridiculous shape for a pen this old. I'm once again amused at how all the zoomed in photos on the internet distort my sense of scale. I was simultaneously impressed with the shape of things on a pen of that size & a bit tickled by how much smaller it was than I'd anticipated, especially the nib. Practically need a loupe to see if it's in the pen, let alone inspect the tipping. :D

For some reason I started wanting a TWSBI Eco. I looked around, and could have supported pen stores (online). But I would have spent more because of say Colorverse ink on sale. But I didn’t want to spend that much.

I found the black version on amazon.com with a 1.1 mm stub nib fulfilled by TWSBI. I had over $11 credit built up, so it cost $20.10. It is priced $3 higher approximately, but with the credit I think I got a good deal.

I have a Diamond 580, and know the Eco is not that quality. But like I noted, for some reason I wanted the Eco.

Visconti Van Gogh- Irises

Oh you are going to love this pen. I have one, and I swear it almost seems like it was oil painted. Obviously not, but it shows Visconti did a great job on honoring the paintings.

Leonardo Pens Furore

I was looking at these when my Momento Zero Positano finally arrived, the steel nibs are quite good, tho the option to buy extra Leonardo nibs suddenly appeared, now I'm wondering whether to buy another pen plus order some new steel nibs.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
