Bonjour From France

Bonjour FP fans -

Well after a long time reading the blogs & reading up on advice & tips I thought it about time I joined.

Living in France, Haute-Savoie next to Geneva & returning to the UK next year

Slowly building my FP collection :

- Cross Townsend - in Lapis Lazuli / 14k medium (with matching ball pen & propelling pencil)

- Lamy 2000 makralon / 14k medium

- TWSBI Vac mini / steel medium

- Jinhao X750 « Shimmering Sands » with Goulet no. 6 medium nib (surprisingly well balanced & lovely to write with)

- Pilot Metropolitan / steel medium (everyday « knock-about »)

- Pilot Plumix for dabbling in calligraphy on this years Christmas cards with Diamine shimmering ink - looks great

- About to get Pilot Custom 74, (demonstrator blue - what else !) still deciding which nib medium / soft medium or broad to be as close as possible to a « European » medium nib (i.e Lamy 2000 medium)

Looking forward to being a part of the FP discussions

A bientot - Teddy

Can someone advise - how do I add a photo to my profile - I have tried converting a picture to a URL using « Tinypics.com» but when importing the URL to my profile it says « member_profile_disabled »

Is this the same process for adding a photo to a post - has to be via a URL ?

Thanks

Greetings and welcome to FPN. You would be able to add a photo to your profile when your memvership is confirmed. Perhaps 07 days after registration.

Welcome to our little corner of the universe from a pen user in San Diego.

Hello Teddy and welcome to FPN, from Cape Town, South Africa.

To sit at one's table on a sunny morning, with four clear hours of uninterruptible security, plenty of nice white paper, and a [fountain] pen - that is true happiness!

Salut Antique -

Thank you for your welcome

Only a little snow here, but we are at low altitude right by the lake - where we used to live, we sold our chalet in August, at 900 metres there is a lot of snow & the ski station has opened already, when it usually opens in January.

Dear new friends -

I am really touched by your warm welcomes, thank you - so glad I joined this FP community & I look forward to learning more about our wonderful hobby through these posts, & maybe one day I might even be able to contribute something in return.

I have done a lot of research over the last couple of days on Custom 74`s & have decided to get two

1. Broad nib in blue demonstrator

2. Soft medium - It seems that these only come in a solid colour black, which is not my preferred choice, but doesn`t look there is any option

Decided against a medium nib, as it is in-between a European medium & fine & I already have enough medium nibs so might as well choose something a little different

Would have preferred to source from Goulet - but they only stock standard fine & medium & my preferred UK supplier Cult Pens is too expensive with the Pilot pricing policy for the UK

Found a good choice of Custom 74`s with not so easy to find nibs here : https://www.jetpens.com/ at US prices

Also found this amazing writing demonstration - wish my hand writing was this attractive :
