Lamyusa Sale!

It seems there are a few different colors of Safari/Al-star that weren't there before too. Maybe someone found a box they forgot about?

Yeah I'm gonna call them on Monday to ask. They most definitely had been out of Pacific Al-Star for a long long time until just maybe a couple of days ago when suddenly it's in stock. They haven't had makrolon 2000 in forever, figuratively speaking, until now. The site is buggy with the discounts: the Blue Al-Star is on sale, but when you add it to cart, it is added at full $40-some value. Can't use the discount code on the Al-Stars as they are on sale already.

That site is still up. When I ordered my second order it took over a month. They said they were out of stock of someone when I called to inquire about the order. I am guessing it was the Lamy Pacific Al-Star, but I got that order too. Strangely they will randomly add new colors from time to time. I don't know why they don't try to sell their stock to a retailer or something and close the site down.

  • 1 month later...

So now it''s 70% off of "green stuff" for St. Patrick's Day.

Am I the only one who trolls the site hitting "refresh" on Friday mornings wondering what the new bonus will be?

I'm hoping that they'll scare up some more 2000's and put them on deep discount - wishful thinking!

Looks like they've got a few hundred pens left to clear out. Probably down to a bunch of boxes on a shelves in a cubicle. Surprised that they didn't strike a deal to transfer the inventory to the new distributor. No complaints, of course - we benefit!

Kind regards,

Interestingly enough, if you search under "Writing Instruments/Fountain Pens" you get a somewhat different selection than for "Last Chance"....

50% off everything now...

Was hoping for more or hoping that they's find some more 2000's to sell!

Looks like the Easter 50% off coupon code (EASTER50) still applies to the charged green Al-Stars they're trying to clear out, so it ships at $20-and-change, to here in Texas at least.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
