A red-purple with some black sheen if there is a LOT of ink.

The name means 'colour of red beans', and refers to the tradition of using red beans and rice as an essential part of Japanese religious ceremonies.

A bit too pale in writing for my liking.

It has shading, so a FP which uses a lot of ink will write darker, you can see it at the dip pen writing.

It is an interesting red purple color, impressive chromo :-)

It's a pleasant color. I wouldn't use it for extended writing, but it seems suitable for markup.
