Week #48 / 26 Nov: I'm Going To Sahara - 2017 Weekly Ink Project

This week, use the driest ink you have.

As usual, don't forget to share with us your choice of ink, your writing, drawing, doodling or anything with the ink in this thread. You can take a photo, make a scan, or even better, write letters and CRV reviews (what is a CRV?) and mail them to the many ink pals here. You are welcome to check back on this thread even when we've gone past this week.

Click here to read more about this community project. Links to the two previous links can be found there too.

Weird story below. In this first image, only the blue swab under the word "Week" is the correct color (see next image for the color of the rest of the text - the camera did NOT want to pick up these colors):

And here's what the text color really is (tweaked on the computer):

Well this ink tries to be dry but I have temporarily defeated it by putting it into the wettest pen known to me.

And while it still looks OK below, this is the first writing from a new fill and it dried out about 2 lines later.

It's a shame I couldn't post a pic. of MB Oyster Grey.

Granted, LizEF, Akkerman #10 is not in any way a wet or lubricated ink but there's something about its colour and "almost" dryness that makes me love it so much.

My driest ink was ESSR Blue Black but I sent that amberleadavis's way ages ago. My only real "Sahara" candidate is what's left of a 30ml bottle of Diamine Burnt Sienna given to me as part of a swap. I like using it though.

I've discovered attempting to emulate cave / rock painting is no easy matter. There's something about the looseness and simplicity of the lines that defies me.

That may defy you, but it amazes me. It could be a photo for all I can tell.

Thank you :)

I've always admired those who are able to let go and be free with their lines. My brain contols my hand much more than my heart. Drives me potty.

But Tas that's amazing!

A gorgeous colour:

But a nightmare to write with. The first half was okay because the pen was recently inked. But at midway it began to suck. You won't believe how many shakings and repeated attempts I had to write a single stroke.

Wow, that's annoying!

I was going to try Diamine Autumn Oak, but I think I used it for another week. I heard somewhere that the Baystate line is pretty dry, so here's my only use so far of this tiny sample:

Interesting. On my screen Baystate Grape looks really blue. And my impression was that it really was a grape-purple color from everything else I'd seen about it....

@Ruaidhri This was an absolutely wonderful bit of writing, and I hope that you're able to maintain the style once all of the medications are out of your system.  Take care and recover quickly!

These comments make me sad as I sympathise with Ruaidhri, having great difficulties in being taken seriously. Or being taken at all (no off-colors jokes, please!) In spite of overwhelming odds,  Ruaidhri -now I know how to spell it- made a courageous decision and stuck to it. I was diagnosed with a similar growth in a place I will not reveal. Oh, well, if you insist it was Mount Sinai Hospital. But I firmly intend to walk in Ruaidhri's footsteps, if he will let me, on my next visit to Dublin.

Reminds me of the day my associates and I developed a cure for all mankind's ills and mistakenly wrote it down with invisible ink.

Was that the end of the Laboratory? Somehow the exactitude created a fully destructive device, as always!
