Issue With Lamy Z24 Converter

Hello everyone,

I've recently bought the LAMY Safari fountain pen (fine nib) with the LAMY Z24 converter. I really enjoy and like the pen, however, I've noticed a problem. When my converter is full of ink, everything seems to be working fine (the ink flow is perfect), however, when it's not full the piston stops the ink flow because of the pressure. In other words, unless I slightly push the piston down, the ink won't flow. Am I supposed to push the piston everytime or is it not properly working?

Could be surface tension of the ink. Less ink less gravity that puls it down. Try to put in an agitator. Like one of those little borosilicate glas balls in standard cartridges. That should break the tension.

Indeed. Or in layman's terms: air bubbles. The reason I dislike converters. I usually try to get ink in cartridges for my C/C pens

Usually, fiddling a bit with the piston does the trick for a while. holding the pen nib up and tapping it a few times might also move the ink.

An agitator is an option. a plastic ball, or a small piece of stainless steel spring (like for a ballpoint) Some brands sell converters with an agitator, but not Lamy.
