Thanks for posting this, I enjoyed it. I am currently using a Wing Sung 3008 piston filler that uses Lamy nibs--- in fact I have a 1.1 nib on it now. A nice pen at a great price!

Gentlemen,

I must admit I am guilty of that video, and am glad that it is of some value.

The re-engineered modern 613 is quite available on eBay, although at Victo's webshop hosted by Taobao, it is offered as one with a clear section in a variety of colours, with a clear barrel thrown in. Personally I would not want to try using it as eyedropper though.

No, I am not going to list my pens here.

Very informative video, thanks to Seele for clearing up some things I was confused about. Thanks to OP for sharing. My 3003 and 3008 are due to arrive next week probably. I'm seriously considering the 618. It would be my first hooded nib, I'm curious about the wetness and ink flow of a hooded nib in comparison to a non-hooded nib.

This video is brilliant!~

Seele, you should consider writing a book to help straighten us out on all the Chinese brands and models,

like a Chinese version of Lambrou's books. Call it something like "Fountain Pens of China" haha. I'd buy a copy!!

The problem is the very limited availability of verified period information; many of the secondary sources can be said as less than reliable, to put it mildly.

Yeah, I can see what you mean. There's not much documentation out there for Chinese pens period, so you'd have more than your work cut out for you.

You'd probably need a Fulbright Scholarship or something to go around and gather materials and interviews in China. :P

At any rate, your posts and videos are extremely helpful!

It looks like what I'd want to do is get a Victo Wing Sung pen and swap the nib with one of the WEC nibs with more tipping.

What's the seller info for Victo on Taobao?

Truthpil, this seller has Pilot-type nibs by both Victo and WSE; hope it's of some use.

There are other sellers but if you are getting multiple units, this might be a good start, but please shop around.

This is Victo's webshop hosted by Tmall.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
