Uncommon Demonstrators

Hello everyone,

I would love to see photos of rare demonstrators (both vintage and modern) in the same topic.

Since it's been 3 years (already!) since Kenshiro shared his brilliant collection (https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/276249-demonstrator-festival-2014/), I think it's worth it getting the demonstrator people together again. :)

I'm gonna start with this old, probably first generation (metal parts, W. Germany etc.) Lamy Safari Demonstrator (old Safari converter included):

This second one is not that rare, but since I could't find pictures of it before buying it, here it goes. It's a modern Wahl Eversharp Skyline Demonstrator. I don't know if it was released under a different name. Notice that this model has a clear cap (different from the currently produced demos with metal caps):

I'm looking forward to seeing yours!

Regards,

Osny

Define what you mean by rare. I ask as both your examples do not strike me as rare. I mean no disrespect as they are perfectly lovely pens, but what are you looking to see? Also, clear demos only or colored pens too?

i dont know, the 1st picture look like a lamy safari demostrator... if it is, that is kinda rare before lamy relabel and sold it as lamy vista.

my lamy vista dont look anything like that.. and it look like it might have clear feed as well...

Rare? Geha 790/760 demonstrators go for the E300-360 range....that is rare enough for me. :) I was more into pens I could afford. That in a time when a 790 went for E30-40 instead of E70+ of today. I've only seen some 4 or so offered on Ebays that I noticed.

That is the first demo Safari I ever seen or heard of.

I had, nor have much of a desire for demonstrators. I have an Pelikan Amethyst that is as close to a demonstrator as I need. It was sort of back lighted when I bought it. :)

German vintage '50-70 semi-flex stubs and those in oblique give the real thing in On Demand line variation. Modern Oblique is a waste of money for a shadow of line variation. Being too lazy to Hunt for affordable vintage oblique pens, lets you 'hunt' for line variation instead of having it.

RIP...200's once great nib, now a double ball.:crybaby::wallbash:

Hi Zaddick,

This Lamy demo is actually quite rare, and some consider it the rarest Safari (even more than Terrarot and Savvanah models). By rare I mean uncommon, and of course there is a grey zone here. I'd be happy the see pictures of the gray zone demonstrators too.

Let me add some examples to make myself clearer: a currently produced Lamy Vista is definately not rare. We can find lots of pictures and reviews of it. The new Aurora 88 black demo is not rare by the same reasons, though less people have it. A Delta Dolcevita demo (there are different models), on the other hand, seems rare to me. The same goes for the Gehas Bo Bo Olson mentioned.

And I'm thinking primarily of clear demonstrators (or quasi-clear ones, as the Lamy demo above and older transparent celluloid pens). But again, I wish to impose no strict rules. Borderline amber demos are accepted. :)

There are some topics for vintage demonstrator pictures already (especially Parkers and Montblancs), but most of them are now unfortunatelly affected by Photobucket restrictions. So I think this one may be useful.

By the way, now I think it would have been better to talk about "uncommon" demos, but I think I can't rename the topic after some posts.

Thanks for the clarification OSF. I'll see what I can dig up for you, though most of my demo pens are not really clear.

@Ruaidhri This was an absolutely wonderful bit of writing, and I hope that you're able to maintain the style once all of the medications are out of your system.  Take care and recover quickly!

These comments make me sad as I sympathise with Ruaidhri, having great difficulties in being taken seriously. Or being taken at all (no off-colors jokes, please!) In spite of overwhelming odds,  Ruaidhri -now I know how to spell it- made a courageous decision and stuck to it. I was diagnosed with a similar growth in a place I will not reveal. Oh, well, if you insist it was Mount Sinai Hospital. But I firmly intend to walk in Ruaidhri's footsteps, if he will let me, on my next visit to Dublin.

Was that the end of the Laboratory? Somehow the exactitude created a fully destructive device, as always!
