New Pelikan Special Edition Souverän 605 White-Transparent

Interesting pictures from Japan. Interesting that the pen is already available in Japan. I agree that it's starting to look like a concept pen. I like that. Pelikan did a white Colani ballpoint in the late70s, and I'm also reminded of the M100 storm trooper white.

I'm a bit disappointed. It looks almost...cheap. and I consider myself a collector of white pens. (though I have only 4 right now)(and yes I consider the 2015 pink pelikan, a white pen). But this, I'm not sure. I hope the pictures are overexposed somehow and the stripes are not plain white. My friend nicknamed this pen "snow white".

I am getting impatient. It is past the middle of the month. I neeeeed my new pen!

+1 I keep checking my account to see if it has been shipped, but it just keeps saying "processing"... kinda like the rotating beachball when your computer goes wonkie :gaah:

I prefer the pink, but I didn't get one when they were issued, and now they are too difficult to find. I actually prefer the gold plated trim.

I have the pink one, but is kind of different from the promo pictures. Is not so pink, is almost towards purple. I wish It was more pinkish.

The more I see this, the more I like it. Especially lik the fact that the mechanism inside seems to be the same colour as the barrel.

I'm sure my eyes are playing tricks on me, but the white transparent seems even whiter than the pink.

I wonder if both of the pens are of the same age and does the white plastic yellow or change colour with age?

I've never actually seen one 'in the flesh' so to speak, but I'm sure I would still love it whatever shade of pink it was.

Oh, I was hoping it was more of an ivory color, as suggested by Pelikan's promotional pictures. I'm not sure I like that stark white.

Has anybody placed it next to an M600 white tortoise? Or placed the pink M600 next to the white tortoise? That would give me a better idea.

EDITED TO ANSWER MY OWN QUESTION: I Googled and found a side-by-side comparison of the pink and the white tortoise, and the white plastic looked identical--and in that Google picture, it was a warmer white than in the Waltz for Zizi picture above.

My conclusion: it's all in the lighting.

I see on Instagram that Niche Pens UK had some new "real life" pictures and said they now have in stock the M and B nib pens, and the BP. Very cool. How does that song go...

Link. It's very white; I think I'd be too terrified of staining to put anything but water in it!

:lticaptd: Makes me want it more, but I have enough stubs (assuming it comes in stub nib) and I'm guessing its EF isn't EF enough for me... Sigh. It's good that it's not 205 size (that would make me want it more).

Fontoplumo has some nice photos too, which look closer to the product photo, but I think they must have had yellow lighting to make the white softer. Either that or all the other photos are misleading, which is unlikely. Sadly, I won't be getting it. Any other color *but* white or pink stripes and I would have been all over this since I love the white and silver trim.

I wouldn't dare use the pen. Probably it should go vegeterian and consume Herbin inks? NO noodlers, definitely. Now, should I get it?

I was much more smitten when I thought it was an off-white color.

What where they thinking?

Lets see how many pens we can sell before they realise it's a cold white.

EDIT: For what it's worth, I don't regret my purchase and I'm excited to see it in person. But I wish Pelikan would represent the pen accurately so I wouldn't have to be saying this.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
