Greeting From Adelaide, Australia

Greetings all,

After lurking around the site and pen community for some time, I finally thought I should take the plunge and join in.

I've been fascinated by fountain pens for a number of years now and like many, my first fountain pen purchase was a Lamy Al-Star. Unfortunately for my wallet, that was enough to get me hooked and I soon made further pen and ink purchases to start my own little collection.

I look forward to meeting everyone.

Hello and welcome. Good to see a growing Aussie fountain pen community on FPN.

I was in your beautiful city a few weeks ago. Although I live much nearer to Melbourne I much prefer Adelaide - although maybe not your summer temperatures! ;-)

Hello and welcome to FPN, from Cape Town, South Africa.

To sit at one's table on a sunny morning, with four clear hours of uninterruptible security, plenty of nice white paper, and a [fountain] pen - that is true happiness!

Hello Chrissy welcome to the place to be during this fab weather we are having here, I live in glorious Gawler and was just thinking that we should make the Wine bottles larger because the Barossa vines will have had as much rain as they need to overfill the bottles we have, the sad thing is that I don't drink much. Should you need any help with anything about Fountain Pens please write to me because I used to Edit the pages of Jinhao pens from china which I regard as the most affordable. .At 87 years of age I should know a little about pens, I now edit webpages for a Japanese seller. You can enrol with The Fountain Pen Hospital for their annual Magazine which will give you a great insight into PENS.Should you wish to change a nib or clean your pen all you have to do is ask the members of this forum how to do that and they will tell you,the pages are just full of information and people who are willing to help.Trust Me, oneill

Welcome !

The LAMY Al-star is a great pen. You should expect a couple of generations of service from it.

The "wallet" issue can be perplexing. $20,000 can finance a fountain pen habit for decades. Seems like a lot of money, but, actually, it is the sale of just one kidney. (Do you have a health wife ? Adult children, perhaps ?) :lticaptd: Good health is important in one's family.

Auf freiem Grund mit freiem Volke stehn.
Zum Augenblicke dürft ich sagen:
Verweile doch, du bist so schön !

Greetings! I too was a lurker. Okay, I still lurk, but I am trying to do so less. Welcome to FPN!

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. People in the fountain pen community are the nicest aren't they? Good to see a few South Aussies are lurking around here too.

So just a few days ago I purchased my most expensive pen to date (probably not the last either), a Pelikan Souveran M600 in blue. I cant wait to receive it in the mail.

I already had a vintage M200 but wanted something new for the Pelikan hubs coming up next month. Glad to hear there is finally one in Adelaide. Anyone else attending this year?
