Gama Eyas Glossy Version

Hi Everyone,

 

I'm thinking about getting my first Indian ebonite pen and the Gama Eyas seems perfect for me.

The only problem is that I want the glossy finish instead of the matte black.

AsaPens only has the latter, so where online can I order the glossy version?

You can contact ASA Pens on email... He will be able to send you the glossy version...

Also, in my opinion matte one is better

I'm curious, why do you like the matte version more? Is the glossy version too slippery or scratch prone?

 

What I like is that it reminds me of a Nakaya, but without the large step between barrel and section that those pens often have.

I just saw it and thought, "Ooh, shiny!" :P

Better Grip...

Glossy looses shine after some time and get scratches ...

Thanks for answering...after looking around at various reviews for polished ebonite pens, I saw that sometimes the polishing job isn't perfect. The matte finish definitely makes more sense in the long run.

 

Then after reading your superb Patriot review I got steered more in that direction and away from the Eyas. :P

I went to Gem and Co and actually held both the pens side by side for the first time. I must say that although the glossy one had a very polished look, its texture was quite similar to acrylic ( while touching with eyes closed etc). The matte version seemed to have a silky texture that seemed better to me. It was not as rough or rubbery as I had originally expected. Finally I got the matte version, only for the the silky texture. 

 

Mr Pratap did mention that they are bringing back the glossy version after 5 years.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..
