I think I may have to add X-feather to the wishlist. I have resisted so far as I rarely use black ink, but it looks a handy one to have.

YES!!! It's a fantastic ink.

This ink below is not my most waterproof ink, but it is water resistant.

fpn_1496213503__52weeks-22.jpg

I had thought it was totally bulletproof, like the Bad Blue Heron below.

Before water

and after waterfpn_1496213658__wardensafterwater.jpg

but it isn't. It is, though fraud resistant in that it shows there has been some attempt to alter it.

I am impressed, though, at how well both inks behave in bog-standard cheapy Jinhao pens.

I love this picture (the ink is nice, too). It has inspired me to soak mine in the lake after I write something......

I added some PR Ebony Purple so that you can see that the SB does not move.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

After the experiment below, I know this ink is water-resistant, but not waterproof (as noted on my challenge).

When I first turned the garden hose on the page, some black ink pooled then washed away. The second image shows a saturated, but very readable page.

Another day, I'll repeat this with a longer dry time and different papers for my curiosity.

Love the garden hose technique :D

Love the name of that ink! Trying not too think too hard why I do!

I've never sought waterproofness in my inks (my writing is too 'transient'), but the ink below fits the bill. I enjoy the weirdness of the colour, but I have been too nervous to use again in a fountain pen since I saw a lot of precipitate settling in my Vac700 . Dip pen it is!

I carried out the tests below by rubbing the page with a cotton swab. Some of the smudging is actually the paper disintegrating.

Edit: sorry about the feathering. I thought I'd destroy some card I had lying around, rather than my nice FP paper. The card was not terribly FP friendly in the end

Ok, this is my first time to post in a weekly ink thread. I chose De Atramentis Document Violet. I combined this with my doodle. I didn't dunk the whole sheet, but I did use a waterbrush on the word "waterproof" and also dropped a few drops of water on the words "I'm" and "sample" in the two rows below. I see a little bit of ink movement where I used the waterbrush, but none at all where the water drops were.

I call this mix X-Feather blue. It's so wet, I find myself adding water to the barrel as I fill a pen, to tame the flow a little.

It's a new favorite, I wrote one barrel dry and turned around and filled another eyedropper Ranga. This ink is wet!

BTW love the flip flops...

Thank you. Yes it's a nice hidden blue aspect of the ink.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
