Papier Plume Streetcar Green

Papier Plume is s stationery shop situated in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans. The company began its business in 2001 however the shop was opened in 2007. From what I see on google maps the shop looks quite nice.

Some time ago the company started to offer fountain pen inks. They're supposed to be hand poured and bottled right in the shop. The inks are water based and described as french inks (imported? anyone knows french private label maker?). At the moment the inks are available in 15 colors and are sold in three bottles: small (15 ml), medium (30 ml), big (50 ml):

I've received sample of Streetcar Green from ManofKent who's done excellent review of this ink. Thank you for sending me ink samples :)

Be sure to check Jackokun review of this ink as well. Together with mine they should give good image of what to expect from this interesting ink.

It's not crazily saturated. I would say it's rather subdued and subtle. The color goes between green, green-grey and greyish. The ink is well and flowes nicely from the pens I filled with it (Platinum Preppy, Hero 5028, Jinhao 922) but it lacks lubrication a little bit. It will shade nicely on some papers, not so much on other. There's no sheen. The ink is fairly water resistant. Accidental spill won't blur the text.

I would say it's nice, wet-flowing ink that's easy on the eyes.

Thank you for another nice look @ another ink from one of my favorite "bottlers." I don't really understand what is going on there, but I like each of the inks I have tried & sincerely hope for a second chance @ the Ivy Green they made as an exclusive ink for the Chicago Show. I was fortunate to share a sample & it is also a beautiful Green ink.

Yep. Liked this "shady" beauty on first sight.

I wasn't aware ManofKent reviewed it too. Thanks for spreading the word on this lovely vintage looking ink :)

Thanks for the review, visvamitra. It reminds me a bit of DeAtramentis Dark Reseda Green, but less saturated, and maybe a bit more shading. I like them both: they remind me of a grey-green loden material.

I can't praise this shop enough.

Great personnel and selection.

They gave me a vial of Street Car Green (which I later ordered when it was available)

If any fountain pen aficionados ever get to New Orleans this shop should be on their itineraries.

I hope I can visit it again

He said they actually followed streetcars around and took pictures of them trying to get the actual shade of green. I thought that was cool.

Great review! This color does remind me of street cars in New Orleans. As a fountain pen ink, the color doesn''t "wow" me.

Great review. I'm glad the sample arrived safely. I think I prefer their Moss Green, but the Streetcar Green is a fairly unique colour.

I prefer Moss Green. Streetcar Green is a bit too grey for me.

It looks a bit like the Vert Empire from J Herbin. Can any tester confirm?

Thanks for the info (I only used B&W film and learned to process that).   Boy -- the stuff I learn here!  Just continually astounded at the depth and breadth of knowledge in this community! Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

It just wasn't likely to have been Kodachrome.  It would have been the films I referred to as "other color films." (Kodachrome is not a generic term for color film. It is a specific film that produces transparencies, or slides, by a process not used for any other film. There are other color trans

@Ceilidh -- Well, I knew people who were photography majors in college, and I'm pretty sure that at least some of them were doing photos in color, not just B&W like I learned to process.  Whether they were doing the processing of the film themselves in one of the darkrooms, or sending their stuff out to be processed commercially?  That I don't actually know, but had always assumed that they were processing their own film. Kodachrome 25 was the most accurate film for clinical photography and was used by dermatologists everywhere. I got magnificent results with a Nikon F2 and a MicroNikkor 60 mm lens, using a manually calibrated small flash on a bracket. I wish there were a filter called "Kodachrome 25 color balance" on my iPhone camera.
