Week #21 / 21 May: Last But Not Least - 2017 Weekly Ink Project

Recommended Posts

This week, sort the names of your inks alphabetically and use the last one.

As usual, don't forget to share with us your choice of ink, your writing, drawing, doodling or anything with the ink in this thread. You can take a photo, make a scan, or even better, write letters and CRV reviews (what is a CRV?) and mail them to the many ink pals here. You are welcome to check back on this thread even when we've gone past this week.

Click here to read more about this community project. Links to the two previous links can be found there too.

I've written that it is not a sheeny ink, or a shady one. But on the TR paper, when a thick line goes down, it does sheen. And on the Rhodia, there is a hint of shading (but really not a lot).

My choice is the ultimate ink in my collection:

Here is a view of the place that inspired the color, the Zuiderpark in The Hague:

Ahh, Ian, I sympathise. Diamine Teal is like a Grapefruit to me. I go for months, sometimes years without. Then when I try it, I like it but soon go off it.

Here's my "Last but not least" Noodler's Zhivago.

I love using this stealthy green black . . . so long as no water goes near it. Eww too sharp a wash colour (see tip of the train's funnel)

Excellent submissions, Ian and Tas. By coincidence, a bottle of Teal landed on my doorstep this morning. I hope I like at least as much as you do, Ian.

Mine is also Zhivago, but I couldn't show it off near as well as you did Tas! I will defer to your submission this week!

(I bought the bottle on your Faux DeFoe mix suggestion of it in equal parts with Helianthus - I still use the mix daily and I love the way it looks!)

This isn't a competition :happyberet: This is sharing at it's very best. Loads of inks for all to see, in whatever guise they take :)

Go on, I would love to see more Zhivago B)

. . . . Delighted to find out Faux Defoe was a success for you  Yay!

Okie Tas... I used the Faux DeFoe to make Zhivago a bit more exciting!

Re-e-eally wish this one were still available 😩

Kon Peki is the closest I've found, and even it is dull by comparison!

Love, love, love this! Partly because it reminds me of riding the train to New Orleans to visit my grandparents when I was little, and trains still looked like trains.

Thank you. I'm glad it brought back a pleasant memory for you.

The sketch actually copied from a Dr Zhivago film still

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
