This is a fairly quick review, so that I can get up some reviews of the 8 new Diamine inks for you to look at. I haven't tried them all on lot's of different papers yet, but that will come later.

Today I've been writing with them in my cheap Silvine Notepad. It's fairly absorbent paper, so dry times are quick. It's a white paper so I find it easier to get the ink colours accurate in Photoshop.

I noticed that all 8 of these new ink samples have wet flow, good lubrication, some shading, no sheen. They clean up very easily from skin and pens. I've had these inks in these various pens for at least 2 weeks now, and they all start up immediately with no problems.

Sorry, I haven't yet tested for water resistance, and I will do that soon.

These inks will be available from Diamine in the 150th Anniversary range bottles as well as packs of 20 cartridges. I don't yet have any bottles to show you.

Wow! Thank for this introduction and I'm tickled pink to see that thay have now extended the 150th number. Quite in contrast to their squeezing out of yet more shimmering things.

It goes in cycles.. Shimmering - 150th - Classic - Shimmering - 150th (now) - next one will be some new colours for the Classic line ;)

Thanks for the review and it looks like a nice ink. But, no more inks for me, for now.

You're welcome. :)

Yes, maybe it does look very much like Purple Pazzazz without the gold. :)

It reminds me of the MB Lavender.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have several inks roughly this shade of purple. So do I need another one? Probably....

Thanks for the review. And not....

  • 1 month later...

I just popped into this review thread to say that these inks have now been issued and are readily available from Diamine and other retailers. :)

I'm wondering how this compares to GvFC Violet Blue?

I sometimes wish Diamine would do a mixed box of cartridges of their most recent inks to allow a bit of a test run before buying a bottle or two.

Here's hoping ;)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
