Bleedproof Smooth Paper Rolls

Recommended Posts

Hi, has anyone had any experience with any paper rolls that are bleedproof. I was looking for a good paper roll for practice that's extremely smooth (like tracing paper) and bleedproof for very wet pens. I was looking at drafting paper that architects use but they seem to be too see through. My next option was coated inkjet paper, but apparently its not possible to write on them due to the coating T.T Anybody have any suggestions? And yes it has to be a roll (I work very big), and not too expensive (water colour paper rolls are out of the question :crybaby: ) And if you're wondering, I don't only use fountain pens on it, I use large italic dip nibs too :) Thanks

Does newsprint work well with wet pens and ink?

Only to soak up spilled ink.

Can you get to an art supply store to do some in-person experimenting? You could take your wettest pen with you and sample their papers to find the exact type you need to satisfy your performance requirements.

Someone posted here in the last year or two about a roll of reasonably-priced fountain-pen friendly paper that they'd discovered from some obscure Swedish or Finnish supplier. I've searched for it but can't find it; perhaps someone more memory-full than I can track it down?

Talk to a supplier for large-format inkjet printers like the HP Designjet printers. There are various grades and sizes of bond and tracing paper.

I can't give you any names because I don't know what is available in your area.

These comments make me sad as I sympathise with Ruaidhri, having great difficulties in being taken seriously. Or being taken at all (no off-colors jokes, please!) In spite of overwhelming odds,  Ruaidhri -now I know how to spell it- made a courageous decision and stuck to it. I was diagnosed with a similar growth in a place I will not reveal. Oh, well, if you insist it was Mount Sinai Hospital. But I firmly intend to walk in Ruaidhri's footsteps, if he will let me, on my next visit to Dublin.
