Help Identifying Montblanc Astoria

Hi,

 

I have read a lot of articles on FPN because it is a tremendous source of information, but this is my first topic ever. I have a pen that I cannot find any information about and therefore I am reaching out to you.

 

I have had quite a lot of Montblanc pen's, including several Monte Rosa's but I recently bought a few pen's including a Montblanc Astoria. I have checked the great Collectible Stars resource, and I have seen a lot of Astoria's through Google Images but the only thing I have found is a Monte Rosa that has the same color and ink window but obviously has a different cap and writing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Does anyone have an idea which model this is?

I can't really say, but I was asking about Astoria myself a while back. I recall that Astoria was acquired by Montblanc, and then furthermore sold pens that were really similar to current offerings under the Astoria label. But there seems to be a lack of consensus in regards to whether they continued production after I think the 30's? I can't recall the exact date. But I'm pretty sure that it was before the Monte Rosa was out. So there was someone telling me that Montblanc didn't roll out any pens anymore during the 50s under the Astoria label, but there were also some others that said they've seen a few models that proved they did.

 

To me, this really seems exactly like the Monte Rosa, with the diamond windows and all. My best guess it that perhaps they rolled out Astoria pens in Countries outside of Germany that were exactly the same as their current line of pens perhaps.

 

I'd be curious to see what others have to say about it as well. Sorry I can't help in identifying the Astoria model though.

I think that rebranding the same pen under different labels could certainly be a viable option, but what I don't understand is that I haven't been able to find another example or anything that comes close.

Hmm... does the piston knob have any engraving? The previous Astoria's I saw had 1G and 2G on it, but had very different nibs.

Another Monte Rosa pen, to be sold in Switzerland branded Astoria. looks like they had some brand right problems there for the "Monte Rosa" trademark.

Dimmler sold its own Monte Rosa pens and pencils in Switzerland.
