I did a double take when i read that too, Bill, I actually re-read the description of it a few times--I think "exciting series in different shades" is a grammatical mistake on their part. Not a series, but different shades of brown within one pen.

Unfortunately I can't reveal sources or provide any more details (so don't ask!) but the Fall release will be another pen using this material, in a new color.

Are you sure that it isn't possible that it will be anything else? I'm still hoping for a M800 White Tortoise...

Recently Pelikan has released one new 800 and one new 805 each year, and the Renaissance is an 800, so at the very least I wouldn't expect another 800...

M805 Mars is my guess.

I'd corroborate Eclectic's hint, having seen the upcoming release... it is a similar material to this one. I like it :)

How have so many of you guys seen a "secret" release?? I wish I knew where to get the inside scoop!

It's going to be a looker from what I've seen.

PELIKAN - Too many birds in the flock to count. My pen chest has proven to be a most fertile breeding ground.

LOL, insult to injury--thanks Sargetalon! Can I get on the super secret email list?

I need to know if I should start saving funds up, lol.

I could show you but then I'd have to kill you. Safer to start saving up ;-). Plan to open your wallet again in the fall.

Maybe you could tell us which national flag it most closely resembles out of the following:

Libya

China

Somalia

Vatican City

 ...or the main color family? I am on pins and needles over here...Also, as far as I understood from the hint, it is another 800 size, not 600?

Well, let me take delivery of the Renaissance Brown first, lol...I've never even written with an M800, so I'm hoping I like the size and weight. I plan to write with one at a local pen meet up in the first week of May. What I would really love is an M600 to focus on buying, as I'd like to have just one of each size: M400, M600, M800.

I would love an M600 Vibrant Blue (or if Pelikan EVER gets the hint, an M600 tortoise). But choosing which M40X to get rid of will be hard: I have a blue striped M405 and a green striped M400...I feel like I should sell one of them if I'm going to have a 600 and an 800....tough decisions when you limit your pen collection to only 10!!

sirgilbert, you'll solve a lot of that if you first collect another zero for your limit, to give yourself more room to maneuver with your collection ;-)

I could not even fathom cutting my flock down to ten... the very thought threatens a panic attack :yikes:

You're from Texas. No doubt you've seen that old bumpersticker that says "My wife told me it was her or the dog. I'm sure gonna miss her." No, I don't know why I remembered that here...

I'm still building UP to ten, so it's easier to limit myself now than to attempt massive consolidation later. I tell myself I don't write enough to justify more than 10...lol. Like that actually matters!!!

You're saying that FP are actually intended to write?! And I thought they were for collecting ... ;)

But 10 seems like a good number, for the most part. Let us see, all you need is:

- 10 M20x

- 10 M250

- 10 M40x

- 10 M60x

- 10 Miscellaneous (M1000, M640, and other non-standard numbers)

- 10 vintage

- 10 M80x... err, let us make that 20 (see, "for the most part"...)

indeed a good number.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
