Really like the way this pen looks. Can't wait for mine to arrive from LCDC.

Awesome pics, thank you. Is there enough transparency with the barrel to get an idea of ink remaining?

The transparency exists, but you can hardly see the remaining ink through the barrel.

Well, that's kind of a bummer, but my phone has a flashlight, so I'll either make do with that or just refill often. It's a small price to pay for such a beautiful pen.

Mine should have been shipped from missing_pen today. I'm looking forward to its arrival.

In my opinion, the transparency of the material is not a deal breaker. As you said; It's a small price to pay for such a beautiful pen.

Although the expected delivery date is 5/31 for mine, it appears to have already cleared customs and is showing as "On vehicle for delivery". I was expecting next Wednesday at first, then maybe thinking Monday, then it seemed it would be here tomorrow and now it looks like I'll have it today! This just keeps getting better! From the Netherlands to my door in Texas in 3 days flat would be awesome...

No notice of shipped yet here... but it probably takes longer to find a pony express guy willing to come to Rattlesnake Junction Idaho over there in Europe :headsmack:

I wonder why they are so delayed compared to Appelboom.

Missed my delivery today (from Appelboom) so hopefully tomorrow.

I imagine because it is harder to fill a pipeline than to keep it stocked. Somebody gets to be first and somebody gets to be, uh, not-first...

Any of the American vendors have product yet? Or is that a question for the ChartPak thread? Maybe I'll ask in there also.

Well, I got mine today as I thought I might and it is wonderful. This is my first 800 size Pelikan and I like it quite a bit. It is much more beautiful in person of course. I also got a bottle of Edelstein Smoky Quartz with it (free shipping since it was coming with the pen and a discount code made my ink total 13 bucks!!) and I quite like the two of them together.

To those who are still waiting: it's worth the wait and I'm hoping you get yours soon without delays. I'll try to post pics up this weekend.

No, darn it. 5 days ago Dennis said "the pens are due to arrive any moment now." No additional notes/changes in my account, nothing added to the information on the page for the pen itself. It's been a long time coming.

Glenn.

I thought it worth asking for an update. Here's the reply...

Hello,

The first batch of pens is now in and we are preparing shipments now. The store is closed today, so,an update with tracking will follow probably tomorrow or Monday.

Met vriendelijke groet - Kind regards - Bien cordialement - Mit freundlichem Gruß - Saludos cordiales,

Glenn.

Hi everyone

I received mine today. What an absolute stunner! Thank you to Ross Adams (and his team) at Pelikan Pens in the UK.

It varies in colour depending on the light angle. Goes from a darkish brown to a very light brown. Cap is very translucent but barrel seems a bit darker. Not sure whether the ink level can be seen as I haven't inked it up yet!

Only in the brightest of backlighting can I see the ink level in mine (sunlit window for example), but it's easy with the flashlight function on an iPhone or other mobile device. Edited by sirgilbert357

Great, that is good enough for me. Thanks for sharing the info.

I'm also waiting for mine to arrive from LCdC.

I cannot say that I am exactly anxious, because lately I'm more into the nibs than the pens and, unfortunately, Pelikan does not offer any obliques or BB anymore. Still, this one is gorgeous and I love brown pens. So, I'm looking forward to receiving it in a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, I'll entertain myself repairing about 40 vintage pens that are on my desk! ;)

Got mine today.

Looks great as expected, writes beautifully.

Pictured here with my 415, I think the ends are dark brown.

Holding it up to the window, there's enough transparency to see ink.

Been awhile since I had an 800 with the silly new pricing some years back, until I found the overseas sellers. Difference between buying and not.

First purchase from Appelboom: nicely packaged and everything went smoothly.

I look forward to seeing better photos of the pen when others get theirs. I don't have a good camera anymore.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
