That's awesome! Think you'll have time to do a write up with pics once it arrives?

Got to thinking about all of this and sent email to LCDC requesting that they not send via dhl, which I think they do not normally do. Dennis said no problem that they only use dhl if a customer requests it.

You got me thinking...I went to Appelboom's website and looked at their "Delivery & Returns" section: looks like they use FedEx Express. Hopefully that is better than DHL. Says 3 - 6 day delivery time...heh, yeah, we'll see...

I'm not sure but you never know what will show up on the Perch. My shipping method takes about 2 weeks to hit the states so it'll be a bit before I have it in hand. I'm buying my first house right now so things have been more hectic than usual which doesn't leave me much time.

Ah, I completely understand. Congrats on the home purchase!

I'll try to do a write up with pics over the weekend (if I get it in time).

Indeed, CONGRATS!!! When I was selling RE, getting someone into their first house was the best part of the business for me. I'm excited for you. Hope you'll still check in here though once in awhile

I decided that I am not going to get anxious about this one. The last time I ordered from LCDC, admittedly before the Christmas holidays, my package was not only held up briefly in the Netherlands, but for about three weeks in Chicago. I am hoping it does not go through Chicago this time, it seems as though every time something goes there it is a much longer delay than with say Boston or New York on the east coast.

There is another reason to hope your shipment does not go through Chicago. I ordered a limited edition pen by Another German Maker from LCDC. It was stolen in Chicago Customs, as best I could tell from the tracking information. The empty packing box was delivered several weeks later. Fortunately, Dennis was able to get another pen just like the stolen one. They shipped it to me by DHL at no additional charge. There was no customs delay this time, and no fee. I understand that one often has to pay duty with DHL, and I wonder if LCDC paid it themselves. Their service is superb, and I've ordered several times from them since.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Ouch. This is one reason I videotape myself opening packages sometimes. I really should do it every single time, but I don't. I just keep the package in view from the very beginning until I have the item in hand, then I turn the item over in view of the camera and inspect it. Its a bit of a process, but its saved me once before when there was damage to an item described as "mint". There was no argument from the seller, as I sent him the video showing me opening the package. This kind of thing really shouldn't be necessary, but bad things sometimes happen and if I opened my box and it was empty, I'd sure be happy I videotaped it...

On the 21st LCDC replied to my enquiry with...

Hello,
The pens are due to arrive any moment now.
Met vriendelijke groet - Kind regards - Bien cordialement - Mit freundlichem Gruß - Saludos cordiales,
Dennis van de Graaf

My account still shows as "processing" though, darn it.

Glenn.

I just got notified from Appelboom that mine is on the way to the USA. And their site shows them as in stock now...

This will be my first new modern Pelikan--I picked up a used M600 that I like a lot, but wanted to try something bigger--and this one is gorgeous.

I got mine from Appelboom too. I got the email this morning that it has been shipped and should arrive on 5/31. Man, that seems like a long time to wait, but it will be worth it.

Is the cap lighter in colour than body? Can you post more pictures please? You might be the first to post actual pictures online, heh.

That's because the material is translucent and the cap secction is narrower.

Wow, first real life pics! Man, you got yours really fast! I'm guessing the cap looks closer to the color of the pen barrel once it is actually on the pen. Either way, I expect this effect because of the barrel's internals blocking the light--the cap has nothing inside it to do that.

Can you post some more close up pics?

Awesome pics, thank you. Is there enough transparency with the barrel to get an idea of ink remaining?

Lovely pen. Maybe I will get anxious for it to arrive.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
