Narrowing Down On A Visconti Homo Sapiens Fountain Pen

Hey everyone, I'm finally closing my research of the Homo Sapiens line of fine Visconti fountain pens. It culminates with my long e-mail correspondence with Michael Masuyama. It will answer all the questions that many reviewers had out there, and I believe nobody has answered my questions more thoroughly and with more expertise as Mr. Masuyama, who is the only person I will send my pens to for now on.

Oh yes, update...

 

I returned the bronze pen. As you see from the picture I finally figured out how to post, it's full of railroading, dry starts, and ghostly faint horizontal lines.

 

To my luck, I found another Visconti Oversized Homo Sapiens Fountain Pen on eBay by auction. I was lucky to snag it for $350. I think that's a steal for a brand new pen. It's coming from Europe, but with 16,000 ratings and a 100% customer feedback, I'm optimistic about this pen getting it right. Hopefully I won't have to send it in right now, but eventually when I do, I'm going to Michael Masuyama.

 

One thing I didn't like about my purchase is that I had to wake up at 3:48am to go through three auctions just to land this price point. And the other bad thing is that I had to settle for Steel Age. Not a bad sacrifice to save $145. I'll take it.

Just bit the bullet on one of these....they look soooo nice. Bronze version, bnib so hoping it's ok.

for $350, I am actually kind of worried for you. a HS does have the potential, like a pelikan, to not write properly out of the box. When that happens, Coles of London is absolutely incredible at taking care of things. My divina didn't write properly (exact same issue) and coles switched it, zero questions asked, for one that wrote beautifully.

 

Since you're ordering it from europe, you will not have access to the US warranty service.
