Pif - Monteverde Canyon Rust Ink Samples

Recommended Posts

I am giving away samples of Monteverde Canyon Rust ink.

I was PIF-ed my bottle by Amberleadavis, moderator of several ink-related forums here on FPN. I like the ink, but not enough that I want a full 90ml bottle of it!

So up to ten lucky winners will each receive a 4 ml sample of ink in a sample vial.

Here are the rules:

1) This PIF is open to USA residents only.

2) There are no other eligibility restrictions.

3) Everyone who posts on this thread saying they want a sample through Thursday, April 13, 2017 is eligible.

4) On Friday, April 14, 2017 I'll post here to close the PIF and everyone ahead of me in the thread will be entered. I'll select up to ten winners using the random number generator at random.org. I'll list the winners here, and contact them via PM to set up shipment.

5) I will ship to the winners for free, via USPS. As a courtesy, if you would like to send me a letter or postcard with writing samples of some of your favorite inks, I always find this an interesting exchange.

6) Winners who don't respond to my PM within three days after close of the PIF will forfeit their winning. I'll draw again to find another winner (or if there are no other candidates, I'll leave the ink in the bottle).

Here is a link to my detailed review of Canyon Rust on FPN, as well as a quick writing sample below:

Glad to see this ink shared. HalloweenHJB made the original purchase.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Please include me in the drawing! I haven't obtained any of the new Monteverde inks and would love to try this one out. Will also post a review.

That is such a gorgeous red! I've just tried a sample of diamine oxblood and it kinda disappointed me. But this is so pretty! Please include me?

I am the tarot reading, bookworm, whiskey drinking, witchcraft practicing, old fashioned writing, aunt Beasty in my family and I love it. Tarot readings for sale or trade, especially ink as I've lost all of my pen stuff from a bad burglary last year. And I need penpals! Anyone interested, please PM me!

You are very generous.

I've never tried Monteverde ink, but have two of their pens. Monteverde was recently suggested in a letter, albeit a green shade.

Canyon Rust seems like a nice color, so I'd like to enter the drawing.

I would love to try a sample of this ink. I haven't had the chance to try any Monteverde inks yet.

Some rusty ink, that should go well next to some bloody ink for halloween. I will probably send you a letter since a postcard would not protect the ink much. Most of my inks are Thornton's but I do like the Purple, Red, Green and Brown. I'm not mentioning Blue and Black the McDonalds and Burger King of fountain pen colors.

Count me in please!

I have a US mailing address, and I would love to try Monteverde Canyon Rust if I might be allowed to enter for a sample. I quite like reddish brown types, and I'm up for writing a letter or a postcard. :)

Chrissy, if you have a US mailing address I can send to, that's good.

Since I'm paying for all the packing and shipping times 10, I can't afford to ship to non-US addresses. If I asked non-US residents to reimburse me, by the time postage, VAT and other costs (like exchange rates) are figured in it's simply not worth it in terms of cost or effort. Apologies to those not in the USA.

I would LOVE a sample! :-D

I just see my hobbies repeating themselves in a way... Before this I was giving away perfume decants in another PIF forum, and before that, exchanging e-cig juice samples and beauty products from subscription boxes... It has always been about hoarding / playing with samples of everything.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
