Pif - Vintage Skrip Washable Purple Giveaway

Hello All,

A little while ago, I bought a vintage Sheaffer's Skrip bottle of #82 washable purple ink. I purchased it more for the bottle's built-in inkwell, and thought the remaining ink would be a nice bonus. After I tried it I realized that, although nice, it just wasn't a shade of purple that I liked. But, that might be your gain! Details on the ink characteristics are below. But first, the rules:

- TWO lucky folks will win ink. I'll be giving each person 15ml of washable purple ink (5 vials with 3ml each)

- Open to Continental US only, free first-class shipping.

- Enter by simply posting a reply from now until the night of Sunday, March 12, 2017, 8pm Eastern Standard Time. I'll post again when the deadline is passed.

- After the deadline, I'll choose two winners via random.org, announce them here and PM them.

- If 7 days passes with no reply from a winner, I'll repeat the drawing.

I must say that the ink is surprsingly well-behaved (using my medium nib on Apica notepaper). When on the paper wet, it is a dark purple, but dries to what I would say is more of a medium lilac/grey. Some shading, not heavily saturated. It does have strong-ish chemical odor. Here is a snapshot of it.

Good luck, all!

That's such a gorgeous colour! I would absolutely love to be included, please count me in. I currently don't have a fountain pen, though I've used my grandfather's pens before. I ordered my very first pen and it's waiting for me at my dad's house, I'm picking it up tomorrow! I ordered a few cartridges to go with it to start it out, but i haven't bought a bottle of ink yet. I'm thinking of Diamine Steel Blue. :)

I am the tarot reading, bookworm, whiskey drinking, witchcraft practicing, old fashioned writing, aunt Beasty in my family and I love it. Tarot readings for sale or trade, especially ink as I've lost all of my pen stuff from a bad burglary last year. And I need penpals! Anyone interested, please PM me!

I've been very happy with the vintage Royal blue and blue-black... Would love to try the purple too!

On a never ending quest for the 'perfect' pen, ink, paper combo... Then again where would the fun be in finding perfection!!

Have recently gotten into some purple inks and it is like everything else that I end up doing with fountain pens, I will need more. Sounds like the shameless plea of the hopeless addict, doesn't it? So, since I have this monkey on my back, please include me in the drawing. And thanks for the offer, these things are a lot of fun. Wouldn't it be great if the new person on the site, AdrielGrey, won?

Thanks a lot. Besides the fact that I have some of that gorgeous ink coming my way, it does my heart good seeing that Adriel has won also. Perhaps another "addict" in the making? Thanks again!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
