Week #9 / 26 Feb: Raining Dyes And Pigments - 2017 Weekly Ink Project

For this week, we are picking the wettest ink in our collection!

As usual, don't forget to share with us your choice of ink, your writing, drawing, doodling or anything with the ink in this thread. You can take a photo, make a scan, or even better, write letters and CRV reviews (what is a CRV?) and mail them to the many ink pals here. You are welcome to check back on this thread even when we've gone past this week.

I am still not really wholly sure which of my inks are the wettest, I wrote a pretty rough shortlist of 5 and this was my top choice - Monteverde Brown Sugar, one of their newer colours. The box claims it has improved ink-flow quality and lubrication, and it seems to be so.

It was one of the wettest and just a really gorgeous colour. I've put it in a BB-nibbed Artpen for now, but will try it in an italic later in the week.

The Merlot seems wetter than all of the others below it. Red Cashmere the only one close.

The funny thing is I see very little difference between them on the paper, too... the scanner actually shows their differences much better!

After a few days of really paying attention, I'm thinking the Van Gogh Starry Night is the wettest of them all...

I had forgotten about Golden Wattle, but it's up there anyway, and I bet no-one else has this one...

(except Amber, who has at least one, and possibly two or more, of every ink) (ever).

I do like Merlot. Not quite red or purple. I feel I can get away with it at work.

I've heard many things about this one!

I LOVE  this ink. I flows well in all pens including the dryest, the color is one of my all time favorites ( a bluer fuscia) and though it is suuuuper wet, I still find the dry time decent (says the lady who walks around the office with a notebook containing blotting paper :P.

Honestly, I do not have anything bad to say about this ink other than it may feather on the cheeeapest papers I found but hey, most of the inks I like do and I try to steer clear from the office copier paper (at home I have Clairefontaine DCP  ).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
