Caran D'ache Electric Orange

Thank you Visvamitra for sending me this sample.

I've never tried any CdA ink before. If all their inks are like this one, then no thank you very much.

Electric Orange is a terribly dry, "blade-y" (lack of lubrication) pale and flat orange. It's just terrible. And at that price? Is it a joke?

Splash

(Only at this level of wetness does this ink look decent.)

I really like the bottle. Does that count?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

This makes me sad. :( Electric Orange is one of my favorites. I love the color & it performs so well in my EF Vanishing Point; it's one of the few inks that I don't get any feedback with in that pen. Mine also seems more saturated, but you did get some shading that I don't usually get. The CdA inks are quite expensive. Electric Orange is the only one I've bought a bottle of; I was on the fence about Delicate Green, but then I discovered Robert Oster Green-Lime.

I'm sorry that we have different experience with this ink. Next time I'll try it in a wetter pen.

I just wish it had performed better and you'd had a better experience with it.

Buh, i wish i had noticed this earlier....i can only agree with the OP, the electric orange is pale even in the wettest nibs, unsaturated even in a swab once it is dry, dry times are a joke and on medium quality paper and below the ink shows every bad behavior you can imagine.

At least the glass is pretty and can be reused.

I tried infrared and idyllic blue too- more cautious from samples- they are evenly pale regardless how wet the nib is...i wonder if the formula was changed somewhen, because there are reviews on the web that state bright colours in CdA inks...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
