Everybody knows that TWSBI 580 is sporting a #5 nib screw unit, so I'm thinking to make it easy by posting pictures of modified ones, maybe a little explanation as well.

 

So, I have a TWSBI 580 AL and my first modification being with an Inoxcrom golden fine nib from a model that looks like a Parker Vector. The second mod is with Schmidt® PRS rollerball cartridge system, using a bit of duct tape and O-ring:

I realy like what you've done with this one! It took me a while to get used to seeing a rollerball assembly on the demonstrator barrel; it looks quite unique.

I love the rollerball assembly. Where did you find it?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I know this is from ages ago, but I just ordered the Schmidt PRS with exactly this thought! (I got the idea from the Traveler’s Company brass pens, which use the Schmidt PRS cartridge system to convert their old fountain pens to rollerballs that accept standard ink cartridges, and have been dying to find other pens that could be converted the same way.) 

 

Oddly it seems like nobody else on the internets has done this mod…so I’d love to know what duct tape + O-ring MacGyvering you had to do. I was hoping the PRS would just slip neatly on in there!

TBH, I don't remember. Most likely it was just normal duct tape. I did use it for a while, but I didn't like it very much.

 

Edit: I didn't like the mess when fill from the bottle. The R/B tip is designed to take cartridge, not dipped in the ink bottle.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
