Karas Kustoms Fountain K Mini - First Impressions

...a fair amount with my fingers on the cap threads, and they're not bothersome at all (unless I squeeze really hard, and then it's only my middle finger under the pen that's irritated - I use a tripod grip). So I'd say the biggest issue with the pen is the nib, and fortunately, that was easy to fix.

I should point out that for the Mini, it won't take a converter (except maybe a Kaweco mini or similar). Right now I'm filling an old standard international short cartridge via syringe. I suspect that will get old before long, and I'll try the Kaweco and any other mini converter I can find, just to see how they work.

Hello LizEF,

OK, thanks a lot for covering the bases for me; you've done the job all enablers are called on to do. Sometimes, I think the pen and ink companies should be giving us kickbacks. :D

I think I'm gonna go for an olive green Ink the next time I'm in the market for a modern pen. Thanks, Liz. :)

You're welcome! Enabling is such a chore, but someone has to do it... :D (The Ink comes with a converter, I believe, and is quite different from the K, but I'm sure the threads and manufacturing quality are akin. It also has a longer section, so threads may not be an issue. And #6 nibs - no idea if they have the same issues as the #5s.)

Perhaps we should start a petition - on Tomoe River paper, signed with our various FPs1. It'll take a while as we'll have to mail it around the world.... Maybe we should start by mailing it to clubs so we get more bang for our stamp...

1 I'm thinking each entry will need to be something like:

Name:

City & Country:

Pen / Nib:

Ink:

...and, of course, we'll have to have one sheet per major manufacturer, so we'll each be signing multiple copies of the petition...

Man, that sounds like a lot of work. We may need someone with too much spare time to kick this off... ;)

Just thought I'd let you all know, when clipped in my front pocket, this thing does sometimes unscrew part way. It's never completely unscrewed, but it has come loose. This doesn't really surprise me since the cap doesn't have any mechanism (like a bit of rubber or something) to resist loosening. I may try an o-ring or something on there to see what that does.

I have yet to try it in my back pocket, but if I did, I wouldn't clip it on, just stick it in there diagonally.

PS: The Pilot Blue ink is just fine in the pen now that the nib is tuned.

I know this is an old thread but wondering if there are any new views on this pen? I think KK is discontinuing the mini and I may get one before they’re gone.
