The Red Shadow Wave Vac Junior, F nib, still with it's standard diet of Waterman Mysterious Blue. And yes, I still haven't needed to flush it out  -- and it's coming up on the 2-1/2 year (!) benchmark (which will officially be around the middle of February).

A 21 Super with a handmade ebonite hood and barrel custom made by Ratnamson for me.

That is the most beautiful S21 I have ever seen. Would they make ebonite hoods and barrels for the P51 too?

I think they will. It takes the same amount of work and skill. I got this made since this pen was purchased second hand and had lots of scratches on the barrel. So I sent it to them for a new hood and barrel.

A first generation Sonnet sterling silver Fugere with the double gold section rings and a two tone (18k) nib. Found it in the wild for $65. I have inked the pen a few (4-5) days ago and the pen has not exhibited the 'nib drying out' ailment as yet.

It's been a while - French Parker 75 godron in silver with a flat cap and gold nib. Still writes really well even with patina and light damage to cap.

A nice blue Parker VP. Inked with Waterman serenity blue.

I bought this VP uninked, boxed and in pristine condition from a local vintage dealer.

Parker 45 EF Forest Green with Diamine Sherwood Green. Cleaned it late this afternoon and took it out of rotation. Down to 9 inked pens.

Received via ebay last week - Parker 61, red with polished steel cap and medium nib. I just love 61's!

Yup. I'm still rehydrating the ink in the red one I got at the Ohio Pen Show in November (yes, that's three months now). And pulled out the black one (currently with diluted Brimingham Truss Blue) to use this afternoon.

Grabbed my 51 Demi vac (Diamine Blue Black) out of my currently inked Parker's. Both are 51's.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
