Sea Foam Green Color Ink

Do you have any recommendations for a sea foam green colored ink?

My 11 yr old daughter's favorite color is sea foam green and she has asked to fill her fountain pen with a sea foam green colored ink. I don't have any in my stash and would like to pick one up for her. I poked around and have stumbled upon Diamine Soft Mint as a possibility. Would you say this is a good match for sea foam green? Or is there some other bottled ink that more closely resembles sea foam green? Another one I stumbled upon was J Herbin Diabolo Menthe, however on my computer screen, I thought this one seemed a bit too blue with not enough green.

I don't know the answer, but two thoughts:

1) Can you give us an example of what you consider sea-foam green? (e.g. hex or RGB numbers for a color, a graphic, something)?

2) Keep in mind that some inks can be diluted with water so that if you find a color that's a little too dark, you might make it perfect with a bit of water...

(Am curious what colors folks come up with.)

I typed 'sea foam green' into Google and then clicked on Images. A whole page full of green images came up. Which type of green do you want your ink to look like?

Here's a photo, taken from my iPhone, that shows what I'm aiming for. These are her two favorite sea foam greenish tops. The lacy on on the left is slightly darker than the one on the right. I've added my Blue-Green Al-Star to help give you an idea of the shirt colors. Hope this helps.

Hmm, De Atramentis petrol and Pigeon blue come to mind.

Also Herbs de Province.

De Atramentis has a lot of tealish greens.

Amother ink I have that looks kinda close is Private Reserve blue suede. However, this ink has been inconsistent for me.

FWIW, if you look at the pictures on Goulet's website for that pen, you'll see it paired up with J. Herbin Vert Reseda - which might be a little blue, but it's hard to say - those pictures are never quite like real life for me. Also, Pelikan Jade might be close. And if you diluted it, maybe De Atramentis Sandalwood (hard to say, there are multiples that might pale down to what you want - De Atramentis White Document Ink might help you turn some pastel without thinning them..). Those are the only ones I can think of at the moment.

Of those I have i immediately thought of Diamine Eau de Nil which may be a bit dark, but their inaccurately named Steel Blue could be the one.

Thank you so much for all the suggestions and links. Now I'm going to try to find one place where I can order the ink plus fountain pen I'm getting her for Christmas (and maybe a little something for myself, too). Still trying to decide on the fountain pen, some possibilities I've been kicking around include:

Kaweco Sport, mint, 1.1mm

Lamy Safari, dark lilac + 1.5mm nib

Pilot Metropolitan, retro pop turquoise

Twsbi Eco, white, 1.1 mm

She already has a Safari and Metro, so I'm leaning towards something new to her. :)

You might consider getting her a demonstrator like Lamy Vista or one of the TWSBI pens. She might enjoy seeing the colorful inks sloshing around in there.

I don't know if she is really wowed by demo pens. I have 2 Lamy Vista pens (which she has used before) and I have never heard her say, "Ooooh! Can I have one, too?" That said, I was thinking the Twsbi Eco might be an interesting pen for her -- or for me. :)

I was browsing around Goulet and stumbled upon a Nemosine Singularity in a transparent blue color that also looked like another possibility for her. My only concern with this one is whether it would stand up to being knocked around in a backpack or pencil case. Middle schoolers can be rough with their things.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
