I think you are right!

 

I don't see anything wrong with the pictures. These pens can be difficult to identify. When I researched a similar pen I discovered pen barrels and caps were being produced by manufacturers mainly in Massachusetts during the first decade of the 20th century.. These were sold to Jewelers who made the nibs and other embellishments such as the overlays yours have.

 

My nib was engraved with the name Walker Davison who were jewelers in Boston.

They came as a boon, and a blessing to men,
The Pickwick, the Owl and the Waverley pen
