Celluloid is almost  not available any more today.

None of the pens you listed is made with it.

Good news. We  will not have to wonder if the material of the new pens will  be destroying by itself in the near future?

that's good to know!!!! so these modern pens are not too sensitive to heat or humidity, etc ??

The MB 14x series had some celluloid pens in the 1950s, but I assume that the OP was referring to the modern ones. Leonardo Momento Zero has some limited edition pens made of celluloid, which usually have an uptick of at least €200 in price.

I have hundred of pens in celluloid  in my collection, 50 or 60 years old and in perfect conditions.

Good celluloid can hold for decades without problems.

I have several Leonardo's in Celluloid.  I think they have all been limited runs so should be pretty easy to figure out if the pen is celluloid or not.

@fabri00That's very nice. I favour celluloid over all other material. The beauty of celluloid overcompensates the overall risks. With knowledge our odds can be even further improved. I also have not had any problems with my celluloid pens but I do know some models are more known for failure. It doesn't mean that I will just totally avoid it, I will just be more careful from whom I buy it from and be more scrutinising with the overall condition. Another thing that I appreciate about celluloid pens is that it takes much longer to make one, because of curing in between the processes etc. Such knowledge and even patience are more scarce now, which makes me like it even more. No one can eliminate all risks in life. If we did, it would be no fun 😀

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
