Today June 28 2005 is FPN's first anniversary :) It seems a really long way since a year ago. From a little group of refugees , a community with its own identity has risen.

All I really have to say is that it has been and continues to be a lot of fun to be around here. So have a great day everyone and celebrate this little milestone with your favorite FP :)

Many thanks to all who made it possible. I truly enjoy hanging out here and learning so much about fp's. On behalf of fountainpenophiles everywhere, job well done!

It is, indeed, a wonderful resource. :)

Pity that there isn't more posting done by a greater portion of the membership. :( But, so FPN doesn't feel like the Lone Ranger, be advised that it this way with every common interest group that I've been associated with over the years. ;)

With over 500 registrants, I'd bet that the fund of both knowledge and anecdotal information lurking out there, is huge. C'mon, people, jump in here and share your knowledge and stories. I sure need it! :P

Yes we are the refugees of when RS died. Just think of all the hundreds of post we lost.

:o

The posts aren't all lost as I've used 'the wayback machine' to salvage some of my reviews.

WOW! Has it been a year!? How time flies!

So Happy B-Day to FPN, my favorite pen place to hang out.

Edit: Went & checked and I registered on June 29th last year! Think I was member #9 or something like that. I was always happy to see another RS ex-pat show up too.

Also forgot to say a BIG THANK YOU to all our Mods for the work they do in keeping this family of ours running along smoothly! :)

Optimists are always disapointed when things don't work out. Pesimists never are since they expected it. That's why pesimists are happier.

Happy Birthday, Eff Pee Ehn!

Sorry I've been remiss in posting. Or lurking, for that matter. It's been 4.75 months since my move to SW Ontario, 4.74 months on the job, 1.5 months with my new love interest...well, time just gets taken up, y'know? Anyway, glad to see that FPN is alive and well.

Cool Jolly Roger, Mister Inky.

Cheers,

Jimmy.

  • 5 months later...

Happy Birthday FPN. I didn't know it was only 1 years old. I thought this was a pretty long board already.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
