Recommended Posts

Papier Plume will be releasing their new ink in the Homage to New Orleans line tomorrow the ink is called Mardi Gras Indians Purple and will have a limited run of 60 bottles to sell online. I was hoping to get a sample and a view of the ink before the launch, but for those (like me :) ) that love ink and like PP inks this is a quick heads up ;)

Here is the official bottle / ink shot

This will be the link when the ink goes live: https://www.papierplume.com/product-catalogue/inks/inks-bottled/papier-plume-new-orleans-collection-fountain-pen-ink-mardi-gras-indians-purple.html

Also Papier Plume will their ink availability and other news through their newsletter first, then Instagram, then Facebook, and finally twitter (in that order).

As soon as I get the sample I will be posting a (re)view of this - I really looking forward to it. Seems like the year for purple

The ink may be SMASHING, but YOU are the BEST for keeping us abreast of Papier Plume's breaking news!

With a Vanness delivery scheduled for tomorrow, to include BungBox "Sweet Potato Purple," Friday looks like a VERY purple day for me.

Definitely want to try and get a bottle of this, but they had an ink called Sazerac and I didn't know about it! :crybaby:

Is it only going to be available directly from Papier Plume? I know a couple of places are now carrying the inks.

Since the last ink sold out "within the first hour after listing on Papier Plume site; I suspect they will not be supplying any other distributers/sellers of the ink. I "watched another of their special edition inks sell out; "saw it listed & returned a bit later & IT WAS GONE!" Maybe they just want a "Limited/Special edition" ink to only be available on their site or perhaps it had to do with the quantity of ink available; I just wouldn't go looking elsewhere for it.

Their packaging & shipment has always been flawless, when I have ordered & their communication regarding orders is without equal; the one time something I ordered was "out of stock," they replied almost instantly & explained when it would arrive & offered to ship immediately the other items, if I wanted them. I was happy to wait, but their offer I felt was most generous & further orders have been equally outstanding. It is really nice to call a listed phone # & find a PERSON answer the phone, answer a question & accommodate a request; it really feels like the OLD DAYS when customer service was valued.

Yes, absolutely true. I also phoned them a few times and they were always there to talk to (in person) and on weekends too.

That is a great looking colour - almost purple/black?

Nice bottle too :)

It seems that way, but, as with most of their inks, this will have great shading properties

It is my understanding as well that this will only be sold through them, I suspect the same reasons stated above by barkingpig

If you have the change to be in NOLA it is worth having a stop at the store. The staff is very helpful, and Patrick, the owner, will normally be there as well :).

Purple is a color I can't seem to get on board with.

The next one - and last one of this LE series is going to be a pink

I was going to pick up the second to last bottle of this, but I really can't justify $23 for 30mL of an ink I can't see a proper writing sample of before buying. And yes, I said $23 because that includes the $15 for their cheapest domestic shipping option. I really hope in the future they find a cheaper shipping option like USPS Priority, or at least FedEx or UPS ground

WOW,

I didn't realise there was such a wide variance for USPS rates, is it because of location? The reason I ask, I received a bottle of ink from them last week with charge of $3.02 & todays's order for 2 bottles was: $3.59, ( Louisiana to KY.) These were the most inexpensive option, USPS, "First Class," but I am not in a hurry to receive them & see no reason to pay more to receive them.

I surely understand your reticence to pay the $20+ charge: I have paid MORE to receive certain inks from Europe, but I did not want but a couple of the Oster inks & waited until they were in stock in the US, because I resisted the shipping charge from AU.

We do offer USPS, but for some reason it stopped offering for a short time. We checked all the settings and looked at the logs, everything seemed fine. Then without warning it started working again. Sorry about that inconvenience, at the moment I suspect that USPS just wasn't sending the info.

All sold out as of 6:10 pm EDT. I had to travel today all day, so no chance to check online or anything. I hope the few people that got a bottle enjoy it. I'll stick with wonderful readily available inks.

Good to know for the future! I admit to some regret for losing out on the LEs, but I still look forward to getting some of your standard inks that look interesting.

Considering how well these inks sold for you is there any chance of another batch or two in the future? I ask because that Sazerac ink looks delightful.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
