I'm confused as to why you accuse Cyber6 of being needlessly aggressive, unfriendly and uncivil. As I see it, she was stating facts as she sees them and adding positively to the conversation. I understand that it is sometimes difficult to ascertain a poster's intent with written text but I would suggest we assume the best of intentions, not the worst.

The tone was certainly unfriendly and out of place for FPN, as is your counter attack. Why did you feel it appropriate to have a go at me when an apology has already been given. Do you have feel that your comment is appropriate to 'friends' as you call them?

I can't believe some one thinks all inks should be similarly priced ..... guess he/she's never bough any Pilot Iroshizuku, GVFC, Peliken Edelstein, Kyo-iro, Bung Box, ......

 

On the price Izods is charging. There is a European pen seller from whom I've bought a high(er) end pen and some inks from before - they are good and reasonably priced (and no I will not mention their name here as it's not fair). The price they've been charging for Robert Oster inks, post Euro to Sterling conversion is very similarly priced. On postage I suspect Izods' present pricing is based on the fact he's sending luxury sends forwards and back, complete with higher costing insured postage and packing (and for me I'm not sure the UK postage is that bad).

 

 

I think you should read that again, no one thought that all inks should be similarly priced. This subject is inflamed enough. There has already been a price comparison, lows to highs. These inks appear to be mid way.

Kenlowe - fair enough, but the ink costs were brought in to this, as was postage costs. Agree it appears to have got slightly out of hand.

They say that all publicity is good publicity, perhaps not in this case.

 

I expect that the original line of think was that a new kid on the block needs to get themselves noticed by being good quality and at the right price, which presumably means competitive with the mail order leader.

 

I dont have a dog in this race anyway, I dont buy Diamine and there must be something in this Oster ink to make you all as crazy as this so I am staying away, TYVM.

I use too much ink to pay that much, including the high domestic postage. However, shipping bottles does require attention to detail. Nice colours, though. Good luck with sales.

Hope you had a good weekend. Wow, quite a debate raging on... I'll not step in because I'm sure everyone has their viewpoints, but needless to say that we're thrilled to be offering the Robert Oster inks.

 

Our first shipment arrives next week and the new online shop will be up-and-running at the end of the month... I'll let everyone know when it is.

 

Price wise... we actually looked at all other re-sellers and it's virtually where they are. Shipping costs are based on our considerable experience of shipping pens to customers in the UK and EU. Yes, they can be sent on basic services where no tracking or insurance is involved, but that's not our preference - the prices are exceptionally close to what we actually pay, and then there's packaging to think about.

 

We will look at shipping prices before the new site launches, but I'm comfortable that we're not trying to rip people off.

Best of luck in the venture Roy. I dont know this brand of ink personally but others with more discernment than I have spoken highly of the ink so that is enough for me.

I happen to think the price is too expensive for me to try out this ink, as a UK buyer.

 

£5.45 UK shipping is the highest I have seen for mailing one bottle of ink within the UK, from a UK based online company.

 

Maybe you could consider RM 2nd class and then you could charge £2.85? With your 1st class signed-for rate, you're also adding on £1 for packaging and it's making the mailing price look really high in comparison to the item price.

 

You don't get any more insurance cover for signed-for mail than you do with ordinary mail.

 

Or as a larger Company, might you be able to consider RM tracked 48?

It would appear that the price of the ink is less controversial than the price of postage and packaging. It might be an idea to increase the price of the ink and offer free p and p.
