This swatch best represents its colour and sheen - the Rhodia scan has come up a little contrasty

Nice! :-)

Did you get the copper sheen? I get it from my original production trial bottle from autumn last year but no-one else seems to get it from the current production inks...

Thank you.

Lots of sheen.

(Get you, with your original production bottle. I only found out about this a month or so ago   - I'm so not connected )

I love your ramblings and I tend to agree it gives nice, silky feel to writing. It's one of two black inks I'm planning to keep - the other is Octopus's Schwarz.

Thank you.

I'm all out of Octopus Schwarz. I managed to use it all up. So, so lovely. That was another ink introduced to be by one of your reviews if I remember correctly . . .

I really like the label. However, I'm not so keen on 'black' inks that pretend to be different colours. So this one isn't for me. Sheen for me is either there or it isn't. If it isn't I'm not that bothered. :)

Wow, how do you use them so fast with EF nibs ;) I do understand that bottle won't last long is extremelly wet nib - in Lamy 2000 OB nib I use easily 2 ml a day. I could go through a bottle of ink within a week - two. But, as it happens, I have too much samples to try. It's fun to try new things all the time, but it would be nice to finally nurn through some old favs :)

Once an ink makes it into my Namiki Falcon, any Ahab / Nib Creeper or my "Parase" (which is a vintage Faber Castell I think) then it gets guzzled.

I also had a phase of sketching everything with Octopus Schwarz and then I used what was left to make a few mixes.

This is really nice and I'd considered getting a bottle. I thought there was another way to order (rakuten?). At $25 I would have considered ordering a few of these inks and some seem quite nice. But at a higher price I'm not so sure.

Good writings and ramblings as always!

white_lotus, my first bottle was via Rakuten who rather naughtily didn't confirm shipping costs (three times the price of the ink) before debiting my credit card and sending a "Your item has been shipped" email. :crybaby: :gaah:

Never again.

Rakuten is $15/bottle plus I believe $19 shipping...have not placed an order so not sure what the final total might be..or how many bottles can be ordered with the $19 shipping, before hitting the next shipping cost level..

Nice ramble :P I don't really buy blacks, so I passed over this one. However, I did buy SK Navy Blue because of you :P Haven't inked up pen with it yet, though!

That's correct. I got 5 bottles at the same shipping rate. I think the 6th moves things to the higher bracket. I am so sorry Tas got a bad experience... :(

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
