JLS1
Hi fellow pen friends/Salut des mes amis stylo! I signed up for the Pelikan Hub in Montreal and recently got an email from Pelikan saying:"We have noticed that the number of participants at the Hub City you have registered for is not high enough to form a Hub at the moment." ( ) Since I've had a lot of fun at previous Pelikan hubs (plus, I think that it's high time Montreal had a regular meeting of "Les Amis du Stylo"), I thought I would let my fellow Montrealaise know that:- we have until July 31 to register to try and have a local Pelikan hub (you can register at www.pelikan.com/hubs)- even if we don't have a formal Pelikan hub, we could still set up an informal meeting to show off our pens and try different inks & papers. If you have any questions or need help, feel free to PM me. Thanks for your attention and hope you have a great summer! Regards,Justin(AKA JLS1 on various FP boards) PS: Mods, if this is in the wrong place or against the FPN rules, please feel free to move and/or remove this post. Thanks! Cyber6
This is in the right place Justin. I did my best (registering to Montreal)... although I won't be able to attend. Hoping you are just a few numbers away to meet the criteria. Vive Montreal!!! C. **** BauerInks.ca ******** MORE.... AD64
Maybe we should all just plan on going to Montreal? Could one register for Montreal and, ahem, not actually go? Best, AD
Cyber6
Maybe we should all just plan on going to Montreal? Could one register for Montreal and, ahem, not actually go? Best, AD The whole point of registering, is to have a proper Hub/meet with decent attendance. I only registered in case he was short a couple of guys to create a Hub. I wouldn't recommend for everyone to register to Montreal if they are not planning on going. C. **** BauerInks.ca ******** MORE.... Cyber6
Is July 11, and I have not received any email from Pelikan about not having a hub in Montreal. Just a guess, but it looks like Montreal will have a Hub this year. C. **** BauerInks.ca ******** MORE.... JLS1
Thanks Cyber6 and AD64 - I appreciate the help! The main idea behind this post was to float the idea of a Montreal hub more publicly, as well as see if we can get some Montreal pen addicts...err...aficionados together. Even if it doesn't happen with an organized event (i.e., Pelikan Hub), it would be great to organize an informal pen posse like in Ottawa & Toronto. Cyber6
I am so sorry... it doesn't look like the Montreal Hub made it. What I found strange is that 4 people is enough to have a hub in Czech Republic... but not in Montreal? C. **** BauerInks.ca ******** MORE.... ScienceChick
Maybe the ratio of population to registrants was part of the decision-making. Life's too short to use crappy pens. -carlos.q
JLS1
Yes, it's officially confirmed that Montreal will not be a Pelikan hub this year. Thanks to everyone that signed up and tried to make this happen. If you're in/around Montreal and are interested in attending a Pelikan Hub (it's fun!), please do register for the one in Sherbrooke - I'm sure you will have a great time! Don't give up just yet - everyone that signed up for London UK received an email saying not enough participants for a London hub this year. A couple of us emailed Pelikan, and they responsed saying that there had been a technical glitch, so we do have our hub in London. It can't hurt to ask them.
