Dear friends!

At Iguana Sell we are ready to share with you the latest news of Pelikan! Here we are, presenting you the new product that will be released by the brand this summer of 2016:

THE fountain pen Pelikan Souverän M1000 Raden Sunrise Red

The Raden Collection is a traditional Japanese decorative craft used for lacquer and woodwork. The fountain pen Raden Sunrise Red is coloured using the special Japanese lacquer called urushi. Moreover, in order to make it's raden stripes Pelikan applies the following technique: First, an abalone shell is placed on the ground, flattened with a hard stone into very thin sheets and then cut into narrow strips. Finally it is affixed to the lacquer coating.

Crafted with the Maki technique traditionally addressed to the Japanese Royalty as a symbol of power and wealth, this unique writing instrument, made of refined Urushi lacquer combined with vivid raden stripes, emulates the burst of color that occurs in the sky as day breaks.

This masterpiece is available with a M nib. Of course, Pelikan will keep its quality with its finely-chased 18 carat gold nibs. Also the pen is presented in a traditional Japanese gift box made by Paulownia wood.

Watch out! Just 333 pieces will be produced worldwide and each of them will include its number.

I do love the look of this one but it's out of my price range for sure.

Ah, this one doesn't quite grab my fancy. Not a big fan of the red base, but real life pictures might tell a different tale! One day I'll own a M1000 Moonlight...

For me, the red spoils it I'm afraid. Would prefer if the red were a more neutral colour such as black, very dark brown, or maybe dark grey so that it doesn't compete with the raden.

I absolutely love this pen, but it is way out of my league in terms of price.

Your pen is much redder than the other images I've seen.

Is it a property of the lighting or ???

I much prefer your colour - redder, than the others.

I took it outside and used ZERO filter and did not adjust anything. It looks darker in a darker room ... more of a burgundy but still red. Urushi has a way of retaining its true color even when poorly lit but the sun just radiates the soul of it.

It is not easy to photograph inside without adjusting things as I was doing that today. WAY to much wind here in NY to dare go outside with it.

considering the price for urushi and raden that japanese brands charge, and the base cost of a m1000 already. I think this is quite cheap for such artful work on a pen. Granted, this is more than i can afford but in perspective this either makes this sunrise pelikan "affordable art", or the japanese urushi + raden pens very overpriced.

I would much rather have the pelikan sunrise red than a japanese alternative though so my judgements could be biased.

Thanks, obviously I need to have a look at one in a shop - but it might not be easy.

I was able to request a Fine nib with no problem.... though it was F, M or B as the options.

This is why I like user pictures more than marketing pictures. Marketing pictures tend to feel too photoshopped to get a real sense of what a pen looks like. I'm sure this photo doesn't perfectly represent what the pen looks like in person but I like the photo much more than Pelikan's official images.

I was very psyched for this one but the red just doesn't do it for me. The Moonlight on the other hand might just as well be THE perfect pen.

The moonlight is stunning.... But at $2,000 more it was way out of my reach.

AND you never know .... they might do a blue next.

Here's a shot of the artists signature on the barrel.
