So sorry to say... but this is not the most attractive picture of sheen I've seen.

I think this picture illustrates really well why Sherwood Green is my favorite:

Fair enough! On my behalf I can only argue that my sole camera is the one in the iPhone... Nonetheless, the sheen is there :)

A possible addition to you list.

Diamine has just come out with a new color, Classic Green, which I am eagerly waiting to try. It will be a while before my B&M gets it in stock though.

Just gonna give this thread a bump in case anyone hasn't cast their vote yet.

Scratch that... didn't notice this topic was active again today!

I'm a green lover but most of the Diamine greens are either too weak or too loud/yellow for my tastes. I voted for Delamere because if I didn't already have Noodler's Green Marine (different but same range of green on the yellow-blue scale) I would by it, but I was also very impressed with my sample of Green-Black. What I did end up buying a bottle of is Diamine Teal, which to my eye is a gorgeous subdued green.

Not a great fan of Diamine inks in general, you can do better elsewhere in my opinion but I do like Sherwood Green as the basis for something special.

When I first used it I was completely unimpressed, I added around 5% Montegrappa Black and it becomes a great ink, very similar in performance and shading to the Montblanc Racing Green.

Those of you that like Sherwood green, how does it behave in your pens?

In my pens, it clogs the pens.

I used it in 3 pens

- Baoer 388, kept clogging so much that I never finished 1 converter load, before I deinked the pen of Sherwood green. I presume the ink channel is too thin for the saturated ink to flow.

- Reform 1745, has been clogging weekly, this was after a full cleaning of the nib assembly, and it regularly needs ink to be pushed into the feed. The feed is being cleaned again, last time was 2 months ago.

- Lamy joy, like the Reform, ink flow has slowed down a couple weeks after full cleaning of the pen.

I am almost ready to deink the ink from both the Reform 1745 and the Lamy joy, and look for a WET pen that won't clog as easily.

Sherwood green WAS a favorite ink of mine, until the clogging got to a point that it was irritating me.

I have used it in Lamy studio and Pelikan M215 without issues. No clogging or anything like that. For me it is one of the better Diamine inks as far as performance goes.

Tropical Green. It is a very, very dark green.

Are you sure you got the right green there? Diamine Tropical Green is a medium jungle green. There are some much darker greens than that one. Mountain of Ink review

The label says Tropical Green and it's very dark.

I just looked again to double check: I don't like a single Diamine green ink. Which is kind of weird, because I like several other Diamine inks very much. But any of their greens? Nope. Go figure.

Green Umber and Green/Black are both beautiful, especially for vintage pens (they work beautifully with older Pelikans with green bindes).

I also really like Emerald, Sherwood and Classic Green slightly beats both Salamander and Safari for for me on the slightly murkier end of the spectrum.

I also love the really vivid Jade and Spring, and especially Calligraphy Passion (and even the sparkly version Neon Lime).

What type of pen do you use it with? I could see if you had a fine or wet nib, it could be dark.

My bottle is definitely in the "jungle green" category. And a lovely green it is.

I keep my M200 brown marble inked with Dark Forest. The only other Diamine green I've tried is Evergreen, long ago; it was ok but not really interesting.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

I was using it in a broad nib Worcester Pen Company pen.  It didn't seem unusually wet.  I've also tried it with a broad nib Lamy, and it looks much the same.

Dark as it is, it is still a pleasant green.

Diamine has a really strong selection of green inks, and they have been so consistent, I don’t even wonder if they might misbehave when first using them.

Umber is my hands down favorite, but from there it’s a coin toss. Safari is wonderful. Classic Green, perfect. Woodland Green, primeval. Delamere Green, almost a mixture of the others. Apple Glory, a sublime green, celebratory really.  Wagner, a bright happy olive. Beethoven ,a dark serious green. Magical Forest, says it all.

FP Ink Orphanage-Is an ink not working with your pens, not the color you're looking for, is never to see the light of day again?!! If this is you, and the ink is in fine condition otherwise, don't dump it down the sink, or throw it into the trash, send it to me (payment can be negotiated), and I will provide it a nice safe home with love, and a decent meal of paper! I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
