I voted Soft Mint, but my second favorite is Apply Glory (especially since Glory is my single most favorite word in the universe), and now I'm sad because no-one's voted for it :(

I actually mixed the two of them together for a pleasant result.

I voted Sherwood Green, well behaved ink, great color and a very nice sheen.

That's the one I voted for. :)

I am also really intrigued by Classic Green. Any news on when that's coming out?

Classic Green? We'll have to ask its supervior. Captain?

I'm surprised no one mentioned Delamere green. It's just a perfect combination of factors. Not as weak as meadow, Kelly and apple glory, but also not at-your-face-screeming green like ultra. It's a warm green.

I voted Sherwood, as it has taken its place among my Six Essentials as the essential green ink. But Delamere was definitely in the running.

How did I miss hearing about this? I just saw the link and that does look interesting.

How saturated do you find Emerald? I love the colour but it comes off a little weak looking in the reviews I've seen.

It's not super saturated. But the flip side is that it's got a fair amount of shading. The first pen I tried it in was an old Morrison ringtop which might have a B nib (or at least a very wet M), and the resulting combo was very nice, IMO.

Emerald isn't the fastest drying ink on the planet (15 seconds on relatively absorbent paper in a Piccadilly sketchbook). But it didn't have any feathering, showthrough or bleedthrough; and it has some water resistance.

Wow. Looking over my old test/review of it reminded me of just how much I like this color. Also, I had forgotten until I looked that review over (which is from at least a year ago) that I had also tried it in a Vac Major with an F (or possibly even an EF) nib -- and it's definitely darker in coming out of that pen than out of the Morrison.

In a 30ml bottle I like to keep 10ml of Kelly Green to 20ml Sherwood Green. I love the shade.

For some reason I haven't thought of that. It's a mix of two favourites. Gotta try it!

Thanks for the reply Ruth!

I'm stuck between Ultra Green and Emerald but i'm sure I wouldn't be going wrong with either.

Just need to pull the trigger on one...

Apparently no love for green-black other than from me! It's an unassuming soft green with very nice shading, great for everyday use.

I like their 150 th Anniversary tropical green.

It wont seem to let me add any more options to the poll.

Thanks for the heads up on that ink though! Somehow I had never heard of it.

I wept that I didn't love Salamander*. I love the name and the idea. However, I do think that Safari is what I hoped salamander to be. I have a nice sample of it now and am waiting to empty one of my pens to fill it with Safari and go off on a toot.

*I didn't really weep. Ink really does not make me lachrymose.

Get both.

I have both Ultra Green and Sherwood Green.

The difference between a bright and dark green are so different in shade and color that you might as well consider them 2 different colors.

Contrary.

I am waiting to buy a bottle of it.

The green is so dark that it is a nice selection for fussy places that want black ink.

Agreed. I decided on Green Black over Umber for that reason too. I can also put it in a fine nib or dilute a bit if I want it to be more conspicuously green.

I only wish it's more water resistant. I'm waiting for a sample of Bad Green Gator, if that doesn't win me over, I'll order the large bottle of Green Black and call it a day.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
