I Am Very Happy And Will Tell You Why

Recommended Posts

52 days ago I made this topic about a problem with my Waterman Carène:

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/305762-to-waterman-carene-owners

I wrongly assumed it was ink, but pen2paper raised the issue of chemicals on a leather case. I had a leather case made a couple of years ago and have been keeping the pen into it since. Then Force also came to rescue – people said he would – and recommended polishing with a polish liquid. Ghost Plane gave the final touch by recommending I used a cotton ear, since I was worried about damaging other surfaces of the pen.

I must confess that I was skeptic about it, and took me almost a month to try. I knew I would be disappointed if it didn't work. BUT IT DID!

I want to take all FPNers who were so kind, helpful and helped making the topic alive, especially the aforementioned ones. FPN is really a terrific place to gather and know everything about fountain pens and everything related to them!

THANK YOU!!!

:D :D :D

Regarding the name of the polish, it is made in Brazil and sold - I assume - only in Brazil. In fact I was looking for a polish for delicate surfaces, but ended using a regular one.

Equally happy for your great outcome!

Glad you included photos of the positive results, with a link to the valuable discussion.

The group discussion assessing the damage, with options to conservatively resolve the issue, are an example of FPN at its finest.

We learned that Where, How, and In What you store your valuable pens Matters. In your case, Chrome acid tanned leathers = unnecessary damage.

Also when restoring, work from conservative options first, and from those who have experience.

This issue pertains to more than Waterman, and perhaps should be a pinned reference?

For me, a humble FPNer, it would be an honor. ;)

Always nice to see someone who is happy.

Anyone like Ray Bradbury? Please read "The Laurel and Hardy Love Affair" if you have about 12 minutes.

You will not forget this wonderful gem that is largely obscure and sadly, forgotten. http://bit.ly/1DZtL4g

What an amazing result. I was expecting there to be pitting even if the stains were gone.

Enjoy you re-newed pen!

These comments make me sad as I sympathise with Ruaidhri, having great difficulties in being taken seriously. Or being taken at all (no off-colors jokes, please!) In spite of overwhelming odds,  Ruaidhri -now I know how to spell it- made a courageous decision and stuck to it. I was diagnosed with a similar growth in a place I will not reveal. Oh, well, if you insist it was Mount Sinai Hospital. But I firmly intend to walk in Ruaidhri's footsteps, if he will let me, on my next visit to Dublin.
