Woo hoo! Finally a Pens and Pints date that doesn't coincide with work! See you all there!

I am super delighted you liked the current meet up place Claudia. It means I can come more and arrive earlier. The service is pretty good or has been in my experience. So July the meet is on for the 8th?

 

Will you make the reservation, please?

Rob Maguire (Plse call me "M or Mags" like my friends do...)I use a Tablet, Apple Pencil and a fountain pen. Targas, Sailor, MB, Visconti, Aurora, vintage Parkers, all wonderful.

I will definitely be there! I was very sad to miss the last meeting. :)

If I'm able to make it maybe I'll bring some of the stubs. I'd like to send a few out for repair but I'm not thrilled with the idea of them being in post office limbo

I can't make it this month! No funds left after I use my Strike money to pay all the bills, there's nothing left for fun! Hopefully the Mississauga Public Library System will be back to normal by August

I will be in Toronto Aug 16-19th... Any chance of moving to throw dates? I'd love to meet with everyone and talk. It'll be my first time in Canada.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.       I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off.
